Samsung Galaxy S5 vs Sony Xperia Z2: Droid gladiators

The flagship Android segment has always been a battlefield but you wouldn't want to be around when these two are in their most violent mood. The Samsung Galaxy S5 and Sony Xperia Z2 are two of the most advanced smartphones to ever sit on a store shelf....

Samsung Galaxy S5 vs Oppo Find 7a: Phantom menace

So, a couple of weeks' break and the Galaxy S5 is ready for the next round. And it's only getting harder for the Samsung flagship - who would've thought we'd say this ahead of a head-to-head involving a Chinese smartphone? Oh well, Samsung of all...

We were a little wary of comparing a phone with a phablet, but the lines are so blurred these days the distinction is quite arbitrary. Certainly as things grow bigger, each extra millimeter has less of an impact. Still, some will prefer the more...

Samsung Galaxy S5 vs LG G2: Life in the fast lane

This has been going on for a while now but, as both makers are keener than ever to outdo each other in the race to the Android top, their flagships are only getting more and more alike. The biggest difference is now in the timing, which is also part of...

Honestly, a walkover for the Galaxy S5, but anything different would've been a massive surprise. Scratch that - a letdown. The gap between release dates has seen these two flagships on either end of a seesaw - and it's LG's turn to touch the floor....

Samsung Galaxy S5 vs. HTC One (M8): Leather and steel

HTC has made some of the best-looking smartphones in recent history while Samsung has some of the best-selling ones. That's very much true for the HTC flagship and yet to be seen about the Samsung Galaxy S5, but the clash is no less exciting, being one...

Samsung and HTC each have their encampment of fans and given each phone's similarity to its predecessor, we think a lot of them will be upgrading to the 2014 flagships if they decide to leave their current phones.

Samsung Galaxy S5 review: a solid improvement, but don't rush to upgrade

The S5 is a solid upgrade over last year's model, with improvements to the hardware, software and camera. However, certain headline features like the fingerprint scanner and heart rate monitor are mediocre at best. Chances are, you'll be happy with the...

Fantastic display ; Daylight images are on par with other flagship phones ; Waterproof casing and improved design ; Good battery life

Fingerprint scanner can be frustrating ; Selective focus doesn't always work as promised ; Heart rate monitor isn't completely accurate ; TouchWiz UI looks better, but is still confusing

Chances are, you'll be happy with the Galaxy S5 if you choose to buy it. It's a solid upgrade to the Galaxy S4, with reasonable improvements to the design, software and camera. I can't say this is your most visually appealing option, especially...

Samsung Galaxy S5 review: Fab Five

Every time the Samsung Galaxy S counter flips a digit, the world is getting ready to be amazed. The lineup that stood up to the iPhone and has been pulling Android to the very top of the food chain, is under new leadership effective last month, with...

Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE; quad-band 3G with HSPA; LTE ; 5.1" 16M-color 1080p Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen; Adobe RGB mode ; Android OS v4.4 KitKat with TouchWiz UI ; Quad-core 2.5 GHz Krait 400 CPU, Adreno 330 GPU; Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset...

No OIS or dedicated camera key ; Rear-mounted mono speaker ; Poor video codec support out of box ; Wireless charging support only with an optional back cover

The Samsung Galaxy S5 polarized opinions at its very launch - it's inevitable when a device has so much to live up to. Yet, you don't need to look any further than the stats on our homepage to know the name of the latest star commanding the interest of...

Samsung Galaxy S5 review

The Galaxy S5 was state of the art in 2014, but it's still kicking around. How does it compare to cheaper new phones?

Samsung's Galaxy S5 excels at everything that matters -- Android 4.4 KitKat OS; a bright, beautiful display; blistering quad-core processor; and an excellent camera experience. In addition, Samsung's efforts to streamline its own custom interface and...

The Galaxy S5 is a only small upgrade over the Galaxy S4. The fingerprint scanner can be confusing to use, and the heart-rate monitor is a niche feature at best. In some regions, the Galaxy S5 costs significantly more than rival top-rated handsets.

Samsung's 2014 Galaxy S5 may still be worth your consideration as a bargain phone.

A more stylish Galaxy S5 for Sprint subscribers (review)

Picture a bright Galaxy S5 with a textured back cover and a mountain of preloaded apps, and you have Sprint's S5 Sport.

Samsung's Galaxy S5 Sport has a grippy backing and responsive physical controls, and it comes in vibrant colors. It has nearly all of the Samsung Galaxy S5's software and specs.

Data is slow if you aren't in Sprint's LTE data footprint. The Sport lacks the convenience key of AT&T's S5 Active. A mountain of preloaded apps makes setup a drag.

Sprint's Samsung Galaxy S5 Sport inches ahead of the original S5 by combining identical performance in a slightly more polished package.

Dazed and Confused

I've been struggling to find something original to say about the Samsung Galaxy S5. The phone's already been panned by many reviewers, and I didn't particularly like it either. After using it for about two weeks, I still have no idea what the hell I'm...

UNDERWATER INSTAGRAM BABY! Fingerprint sensor lets you unlock the phone flawlessly almost every time. Excellent camera took gorgeous shots, with a fast shutter and great focus. Removable back means you can pack an extra battery–but you probably won’t...

Baffling interface and default set of applications. Flimsy dimpled plastic back feels like a cheap practice golf ball. Why do you keep giving me two apps when one will do

Samsung Galaxy S5 (Verizon Wireless)

As Samsung continues to refine its flagship Android smartphone, the Galaxy S5 is better than ever. It's the most powerful phone you can buy, and is a lock for our Editors' Choice on Verizon.

Spectacular screen. Super-fast Wi-Fi and LTE performance. Excellent camera. Waterproof..

All-plastic design. Bloatware. No Download Booster.
