Sony Ericsson Xperia ray review: Ray of light

Quad-band GSM /GPRS/EDGE support, 3G with 7.2 Mbps HSDPA and 5.76 Mbps HSUPA, 3.3" 16M-color capacitive LED-backlit LCD touchscreen of FWVGA resolution (480 x 854 pixels) on Sony Mobile BRAVIA engine, Android OS v2.3 Gingerbread, 1 GHz Scorpion CPU,...

Screen viewing angles could have been better, No smart dialing, Loudspeaker has below average performance, No DivX/XviD support, Non hot-swappable memory card, No HDMI port (the arc and the Neo have one)

Almost nothing went missing when Sony Ericsson turned the magnification down to change the arc into the ray. The HDMI port was dropped out, which is a pity. Had the Xperia ray been able to pair with an HDTV, the screen size would've been irrelevant....

Sony Ericsson Xperia ray preview: First look

Big is in with Android phones but the Xperia ray is eager to prove that petite smartphones have a charm of their own. All the horsepower of the Arc in a body that's a centimeter shorter both ways - think a premium saloon turned into a roadster. The...

Sony Ericsson XPERIA ray Review

The XPERIA ray is easily the smallest smartphone I've ever had the opportunity to lay hands on, and while it may seem at first to be tiny in stature, it packs an oddly enticing set of punches. Head back to our XPERIA ray hands-on and unboxing post to...

This device is a surprisingly enjoyable to use device for its size, but the cost might be prohibitive to most Americans used to getting their devices on-contract for the major discount available when a carrier gets ahold of a device. Today you can...

Sony Ericsson Xperia ray Review

High pixel density display, Design-conscious chassis, Good loudspeaker, Dual mics for noise-cancellation and stereo sound capture

Camera could be better, LED light doesn't serve as automatic flash

To summarize our impressions from the tiny phone – it is tempting to dismiss the Sony Ericsson Xperia ray as a less-capable version of the Xperia arc, but what you get is in fact a more compact variant, without sacrificing much but an HDMI port....

Sony Ericsson Xperia ray Preview

Three new Sony Ericsson handsets, among which was the Sony Ericsson Xperia ray, were announced pretty hush-hush at CommunicAsia 2011 just a few weeks ago. Looking at the preview unit in our hands, we feel the handset actually deserved more attention to...

Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray Review

This is a very unique phone, without a shadow of a doubt. Think of a slim phone, and then squeeze that imagination a bit more. Surprisingly good performance and a build quality that feels better than the price bracket this phone plays in. Will work for...

Good performance, Extremely slim form factor, Battery holds up well

Slim display wont be comfortable for everyone, On-screen keypad in portrait mode is uncomfortably cramped

Sony Ericsson Xperia ray

Sony Ericsson's Xperia family of Android phones has been rapidly expanding, including its traditionally large form factor (like the Arc), adorably miniature ones, such as the Mini, and even sliders, like the Pro. Another addition is the Xperia Ray – a...

Sharp, pocketable form factor ; Smart Facebook integration ; Smooth, responsive software

720p video capture washed-out ; Picky with headphones with in-line mics ; Small-ish display

I have very few complaints about the Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray. On the whole, it's a slim, simple, and smooth Android phone with smart customizations. I really wish Sony Ericsson would get around to fixing that in-line mic issue, since it's been...

Sony Ericsson Xperia ray Review

One of the tiniest Android smartphones I've ever had the pleasure of working with has been in my pocket for the past few days, and that is the Sony Ericsson Xperia ray. This device is extremely small, sleek, and lightweight but that isn't all it...

To wrap things up I’m going to have to finish by saying I love this phone, but I sort of hate it too. The hardware, camera, display, and even the amazingly loud and clear speakers all are excellent but overall it’s just too small for me. The display...

Sony Ericsson Ray is here with an 8.1mp camera, Gingerbread

The June announcement of the Sony Ericsson Ray seems to have materialized as physical versions have started shipping. And I must say that these are quite good. The Sony Ericsson Ray seems to have developed into something quite what was expected. The...
