Xiaomi Redmi 3 Smartphone Review

Budget price, mainstream performance. The latest affordable Redmi model from the Chinese manufacturer carries a surprisingly bright backlight and long battery runtimes with the new Snapdragon 616 SoC for just under $160 USD.

thinner and sleeker design, larger display than Redmi 2 with more accurate colors and grayscale, bright backlight, long runtimes, IR blaster, decent camera for the price, inexpensive, no throttling

non-removable battery, MicroSD and secondary SIM cards use the same slot, no USB Type-C, MHL, or NFC, no 1080p option, brightness distribution could be better, blue colors are less accurate

Inexpensive Chinese smartphones have been more difficult to recommend in the past, but major manufacturers like Huawei and Xiaomi are proving quite quickly that users don't need to spend anything more than $200 or $300 USD for a brand new and perfectly...

Xiaomi Redmi 3 reviewed: this Redmi Blewmi away

On the hunt for a great budget smartphone with legs to last a few days? You might want to look at the Xiaomi Redmi 3, coming in at R3299.

The Xiaomi Redmi 3 is good enough in pretty much every category, but truly excels in the battery department, making for a long-lasting yet capable mid-range smartphone. Does it beat the sub-R2000 Redmi 2 Pro in terms of sheer value for money though?...

Xiaomi Redmi 3 review

Bailey has been spending some time with the Xiaomi Redmi 3 and he's ready to give you the full rundown, so let's dig right into the details.

Astonishing battery life ; Impressive design and build quality ; MIUI feels very polished ; IR blaster is always nice to see ; Great call quality

No U.S. availability ; Camera is mediocre ; Sunlight readability could be better ; Bootloader unlocking process is unwieldy ; Occasional performance hiccups are annoying

It’s one of the best phones we’ve used in its price category, and its excellent design, great software, and crazy good battery life greatly overshadow its flaws.

Xiaomi Redmi 3 budget smartphone review

The Redmi 3 is a 5in budget smartphone from Chinese phone maker Xiaomi, and not officially sold in the UK. We see whether it's worth tracking down in our Xiaomi Redmi 3 review.

The Xiaomi Redmi 3 is a very decent budget Android phone, but it isn't intended for a UK audience and doesn't come with Google Play installed out of the box, so we wouldn't recommend it for those not familiar with Android. It has a plasticky but decent...
