Use this machine for HD video

I bought this machine to play HD videos. Its HDMI output is compatible with my HDTV (Philips). I played HD material up to 720p and no problem. CPU usage less than 20%. It is quiet and stylish and is much better than a hardware media player which has...

The computer uses 100% of its CPU when I played 1080p video. The integrated video card was detected to support hardware acceleration for mpeg2. It does not support other formats (or at least that is what my media player software says). So if I play...

Great!

Hard to find a better computer for the price, especially if you already own a good monitor!

Great computer. Arrived with everything I needed. Very small and stylish. Keyboard is great and quiet

the mouse isn't my favorite but it does well. Obviously not designed for high-graphics gaming but that wasn't my purpose

Acer Aspire AL5100-UD4400A Athlon 64 X2 4400+ 3GB DDR2 320GB ATI Radeon X1250 IGP Windows Vista Home Premium

Really can't expand using pci-x cards, so any extras must be USB, and there are only 6 USB ports, 4 on back + 2 on front. Keyboard, mouse, modem, speakers, are all usb, thumb drive, camera, printer, scanner fight for the last 2 USB ports. (I use my old...

Very Small in size, Low Power consumption, Runs cool, 3GB DDR Ram, Fast, Amd 64 x2 4400+ is a very good CPU. I play Sim City 4 with no problems! Cpu can be upgraded without bios flash using G2 stepping, Very quite** See Cons. I love this machine

Some times the DVD ROM vibrates very loud and dangerously, to fix this I had to lay the computer on its side instead of standing it vertical

Excellent Network Video Interface

At this price, the X2 4400 processor and 3GB memory make this an almost perfect media machine. If it came with a blue-ray player you could be set for the next generation of DVDs as well.

We bought this machine before Christmas when it was $319 - GREAT PRICE AND VALUE. The goal was to have an attractive computer that would serve Netflix Watch Instantly movies to our HDTV via HDMI in the living room. We are completely pleased with this...

This computer would be even greater with a blue-ray player, but opening up the machine to put in a larger HD was informative...it is designed more like a laptop with external power supply and laptop memory cards, etc. Internal expansion opportunities...

Liked it so much we bought a second one

My partner and I bought this computer for his parents. We played with it attached to our HDTV for a few weeks and were sad to see it go when we gave it to them. We decided to buy another one for ourselves.

Fantastically slim and attractive. Not obtrusive under the television or in the media center. Athlon X2 processor is powerful enough for most applications and older games. Almost silent. HDMI out. Several USB ports

Not a cutting edge gaming computer. The first one we bought was a better deal as it was a pre-holiday special here on Newegg, which we scored for about three hundred and twenty dollars. We paid about fifty more for the second one

Of course props to newegg for the amazing shipping!!

Nice small size, perfect for tight workspaces

No books, pamphlets, papers, NOTHING not even any backup cd's included with this. Defeinetly a first in my computer buying experience, not even an instruction manual or booklet with a phone number or paper

What a beautiful machine!

I upgraded mine immediately to 5200+ per Acer Spec since the PWS of this unit is only 135W so I can only choose the fastest 65W CPU available to have some performance gain. This unit is really beautiful and a space saver. For the price I paid, I could...

Price, elegant/slim design, high quality components. For the overall value, it is the best deal online. Thanks to NewEgg for the super deal on Cyber Monday

So-so performance with 4400+ (some 40 seconds to start Vista). Fan could be a bit noisy after hours of usage

Awesome machine with great deal

Great deal compared to DELL Studio Hybrid. Ultra compact design for HTPC and space-saving. Punching a lot of muscle components with low price. ACER doing the smart marketing. I am happy with the system

AMD Dual Core 4400 ; 3GB RAM ; 320GB SATA HD ; HDMI output ; SPDIF output ; Ultra compact design

No WIFI ; No ATSC input

Small and cute but loud

Acer, please update BIOS to fix loud fans.

Very small - the size of an external hard drive. Nicely finished and very well constructed case. Looks nice in media center. Good specs for a basic computer. Incredible low price. Will most likely be able to handle blu-ray (if one can find a slot...

No built in WIFI. Two tiny fans are very loud at even 50% CPU. (They are quiet when idling). You can disable AMD smart and quiet control in BIOS, but that does not fix the fan speed. If someone can figure out how to lower fan speed without frying the...

AWESOME Portable Desktop

I don't understand how people criticize the computer for something they wish it had. This is a great desktop computer, with super fast performance, tons of disk space, tons of memory, and a super small size. If you wish it had something, just add it....

Small, light, quiet, great capabilities, a lot of memory, enormous HDrive, everything necessary for a home desktop. Not to mention, SUPER cheap. I love it cuz its portable, and I can take the desktop anywhere

I wish it had a TV out, but thats not a Con :)
