Acer Aspire M5800-U5802A review: Acer Aspire M5800-U5802A

Acer Aspire M5800-U5802A

Best performance in its price category; decent budget gaming PC.

Clunky exterior you'll want to hide under a desk.

Acer's Aspire M5800-U5802A could use some visual polish, but get past its appearance and you'll find a fast, affordable computer that will handle any task you care to throw at it. It's even a decent low-end gaming box. We'd only recommend against this...

Acer Aspire M5800-U5802A and eMachines EZ1601-01 Nettop

This is the second part of a two-part series discussing three different desktop computers: the Dell Studio XPS 435, Acer Aspire M5800-U5802A, and eMachines EZ1601-01 Nettop. Let's pick up where we left off, discussing the features of the Acer Aspire...

Besides HDMI, you also get a DVI and a VGA port. Additionally, you get FireWire, ten USB ports, headphone and microphone jacks, and more. There is no eSATA port available on the M5800-U5802A. But there is a card reader that supports several different...

still going strong (an update)

I admit, I love this computer. Handles the data-intensive Football Manager games without breaking a sweat, and is quicker on the boot up than my previous Acer.

Over 2 weeks in and no problems yet. Received my Windows 7 upgrade after about 10 days, had no trouble upgrading. Hooked up the included speakers on my old computer- not bad for casual usage while surfing the web, nothing great

Power button has already been hit 3 or 4 times by accident. That's about it. Slight delay from the time the disk tray is pressed to when it opens. Thing runs quiet...almost too quiet! Keep having to fight the urge to check and make sure the fan's still...

Read before returning

Have not had to deal with Acer support (but I also bought 9 Acer monitors at the same time. NOT A SINGLE DEAD/STUCK PIXEL!

bought 6 of these for a project. Love em! everyone of them shipped with a cable loose, but after that they were great

As long as you are prepared to open them when they arrive: you MUST reconnect the HD power cable ; You MUST re-seat the wifi-card ; Took 4 weeks for Acer to send me the free Win7 upgrade (not really bad for free)

Great internals, poor external...

Please note, the right and topside of the case is very difficult to remove and place back on correctly. Took me several tries. Additionally the front facing must be handled carefully! There are 6 plastic clips, and you MUST release the left side first...

Good Hardware: Overall, I am satisfied with this computer. My usage include Adobe programs, online gaming, and generic tasking. Nothing too fancy on either ends of those - such as duel tasking, heavy 3D graphics, etc ; For the price, I am very...

Poor Case Design: My case emitted a high vibration noise, only at certain times and when tilted as certain angles. I tracked down the noise to the area of the HD - located in the front of the unit, below the disc drive ; Originally, I contacted the...

This was a bust!!!

Everyone hates Dell's customer service, but at least when a machine is ordered, it works. Next time I'll order a Dell.

hmmmm

The machine wouldn't even boot up!!! I tried to contact Acer and was told I needed to send an email and they would get back to me in order of when the email was received. That was 2 weeks ago. Haven't heard a word. Newegg will only send a replacement...

Acer M5800-5802A

If you are counting on getting a Windows 7 upgrade from ACER/Mentor Media, be prepared to wait months (yes I said MONTHS!) for it to be delivered.

Does everything I expected

This was a good buy until I discovered I'm stuck with VISTA for the foreseeable future. Should have purchased something with W7 installed

Love it!!!

Other then the speakers and the not plugged in HDD the computer is great. I would sages to anyone to get this computer. It's not hard to plug in the HDD power if you don't know. The keyboard is very nice as well. I just ordered a free upgrade of...

I love this computer. I have had it for a month now and it works amazing. Especially for this price ; It's very fast. I love the front top USB ports - very easy access

Well as a technician the very first thing I did was open up the case. The HDD was not plugged into the power. So you will have to do that also the side panel was hard to put back on ; When I got my computer to boot up. The speakers worked fine for a...
