Service and support

Apple Mac Mini (PowerPC G4)

Affordable; extremely compact; whisper quiet; ships standard with 512MB of memory; includes iLife '05.

G4 processor, not G5; peripherals--even keyboard and mouse--add to the bill if you don't already own them; case can't be easily opened; slow hard drive; only two USB 2.0 ports.

The Apple SuperDrive Mac Mini addresses some of the shortcomings of its $499 predecessor, making it a well-rounded home PC at its base configuration.

Apple 1.25GHZ Mac Mini Desktop Desktop

Cute isn't a word we use very often in connection with PCs, but it certainly applies to the Apple Mac Mini--arguably the most visually striking personal computer ever built. The world's most petite PC could serve double duty as a bookend, as long as...

Apple describes the Mac Mini as a BYODKM (bring your own display, keyboard, and mouse) system; none of these are included. Apple offers a USB keyboard and mouse set for $58, but the system works with any USB keyboard and mouse designed for a PC: You...

Apple Mac mini

The Apple Mac mini makes an attractive entry point for the Windows-to-Mac switcher, the Mac user who needs an upgrade from a pre-1-GHz Mac, or the user on a budget who wants a small, silent desktop with a really cool design.

Sleek design. Tiny chassis. Most affordable Mac yet. Built-in Bluetooth and 802.11g wireless available. Quiet, single-fan system

Base price ($499) does not include keyboard, mouse, monitor, speakers, or wireless; RAM and hard drive space are barely adequate. No audio input. Limited internal expansion

Apple Mac mini (HDMI)

Apple's Mac mini raises the bar yet again for ultra small form factor ("mini") desktops.

Super compact design. Aluminum unibody construction. SD slot supports new SDXC cards. Included HDMI-to-DVI adapter and HDMI port. Extremely low power usage. GreenTech Approved. Internal power supply. Accessible memory slots. More 3D power than anything...

Still no Blu-ray. Hard drive is hard to upgrade. No eSATA port.
