Asus AM1I-A

The Asus AM1I-A is a budget motherboard made for AMD's AM1 System on Chip (SoC) processors. It has a full feature set, but some of those features may seem extraneous in a sleek, modern PC.

Nice layout. Good connectivity, including six USB ports. GUI-based BIOS screens.

Some of the extra features are legacy-based. Pricey for an AM1 motherboard.

ASUS AM1I-A

I purchased this board in order to build an inexpensive HTPC for streaming video and audio from my NAS. It does the job but there are some oddities: * Why is there no front panel USB 3.0 support? There are pinouts for 2.0 but every modern mITX case I...

Relatively inexpensive ; ASUS quality ; Good, but not great, for an HTPC build

NO front panel USB 3.0 support (!) ; 4 pin power requirement on the board ; Required" 300W power supply

ASUS AM1I-A

Good on Asus for being one of the first to come out with a motherboard in this new AM1 SoC platform. Unfortunately Asus seems to be one of those companies that produces great products which are wasted on poor marketing and support teams. I've been...

Does the job, has a lot of legacy ports, which are nice to have, and the full range of display connectors. It also has solid capacitors. Being the new AM1 platform, the motherboard doesn't really need to do very much, as most of the functionality has...

I dropped an egg because of the poor documentation and support, and another because of the motherboard layout ; Whoever wrote the manual seems out of touch with the Mini-ITX form factor. The manual claims that you need at least a 300W power supply to...

Good feature set

It can moderatly overclock the new Kabini processors (In my case Athlon 5150 (stock 1.6Ghz) is running at 2Ghz ; The included manual has sufficent information to configure the system

Only two SATA ports
