Asus Chromebox a good starting point for Chrome OS

If you don't mind bringing your own keyboard, mouse, and display, this little black box is an inexpensive way to leave traditional OS computers behind.

The ; puts the Cloud-based world of Google's Chrome OS into a compact, attractive black box. For its low starting price, you get a decent performance for everyday tasks and a good assortment of ports and connections.

You need to supply your own keyboard and mouse, which might not be as easy as it sounds. Only 16GB of storage might turn off some potential users, while power users will want to step up to the Core i3 version.

If you're looking to get started in the world of Chrome OS, the Asus Chromebox is a very good starting point--so long as you don't mind bringing your own peripherals.

ASUS Chromebox Review

I see a lot of potential in Google's Chrome OS. Even today, I have no issues recommending the platform to friends and family with basic computing needs but who want something more traditional than a smartphone or tablet.

What Chrome OS makes you sacrifice in flexibility, you gain in security. The relative immunity to viruses and malware makes the Chromebox an easy platform to recommend to novice users that are up for a somewhat unique learning curve.

Asus Chromebox Review: Chrome OS Goes Desktop

The Asus Chromebox is more than just a niche product; it's the oddball overlap in a Venn diagram, putting Google's laptop-friendly Chrome OS into a tiny mini PC. This machine is compact and inexpensive, but the limitations of Chrome on the desktop and...

Inexpensive ; Good port selection ; Strong online performance ; Supports 4K resolution and multiple monitors

Chrome OS means no Windows programs ; Relies heavily on online connectivity

The Asus Chromebox is an early experiment in putting Chrome OS into a tiny desktop, and it feels like it. You can get online and enjoy a range of web apps and extensions, but the little desktops limitations are hard to ignore.

Asus Chromebox review
