Asus Eee Box B202 Compact PC

Well-designed, ultrasmall desktop serves for basic computing, but don't expect much in the way of performance.

Clever, compact design ; Low price

No optical drive ; Lackluster performance

With its white, boxy, angular design, the Eee Box recalls Apple's Airport Extreme or Nintendo's Wii. It includes a screw-on stand, as well as a VESA mount for attaching the system to the back of a monitor. And, unlike some ultracompact desktops, the...

ASUS Eee Box PC

The ASUS Eee Box PC has a lot going for it: It's tiny, low wattage, quiet—and you don't need to learn Linux to use it.

Tiny. Quiet. Energy-efficient. "Express Gate" pre-Windows quick-boot mode. Windows XP Home (compatibility, software). Mountable on VESA monitor. Multithreaded processor.

Smallish hard drive. No 3D performance worth speaking of. Low benchmark test numbers. Some apps may be incompatible. 1GB of memory. No CD or DVD drive. It's Windows, so you're vulnerable to Windows malware and viruses.

The Eee Box comes with a quick-boot environment called Express Gate, which ASUSTek has previously used on motherboards for Intel CPUs. Express Gate lets you get online in a few seconds (5 to 7 seconds by my count) and surf with a version of the Firefox...

Review: Asus Eee Box PC

Asus has been cranking out new versions of the Eee PC faster than a Kansas twister, all thanks to the growing herd of Eee-mitators out...

Where’s the optical drive? No HDMI output, which actually doesn’t matter much because there’s also no hardware decode acceleration. By itself, the Atom processor can barely handle 720p H.264 streams, dashing our hopes of this being the ultimate home...

Asus Eee Box PC

I have a six-year-old "performance PC" on my desk that I use mainly for Web surfing these days. That power hog consumes upwards of 250W to 300W for nothing more than surfing. The Eee Box would be a great replacement, since it only uses 18W of energy,...

The ASUS Eee Box PC is just what it's billed to be: a tiny PC that runs Windows XP and is good for Web surfing and simple tasks.

Asus Eee Box B206

The Asus Eee Box B206 falls between two stools — it's not powerful enough to take on other media-centre PCs and can't play back high-definition video as well as many of the cheaper media streamers on the market. That said, for undemanding users...

Appealing design, Relatively low price

Poor performance, Can't play most high-definition video formats

ASUS Eee Box

It seems the appeal of the Eee PC doesn't carry over to the Eee Box.

Small design may have some aesthetic appeal Integrated Draft-N Wi-Fi Pre-Windows ExpressGate OS lets you browse and do other basics seconds after turning on the power

Terrible performance and features compared with standard budget desktops, A cheap notebook will offer similar capability, space savings and portability

Sleek white case ; No bloatware ; Nice specs for the price ; Around 20 watts of power ; Surf the net w/o an OS ; Waaay quiet

Ancient Windows XP ; Comes with IE6 ; No DVI to HDMI adapter ; Shoddy Express gate Wi-Fi setup
