PC Plus review: Cube247 Proxima

In many ways a fine buy, provided you want to spend £2,000 on a PC, of course! Apart from the noise. And the case. Our only worry about buying a system at this price point is that, by the end of the year, it would have a dual-core processor on board

Cube247 Sigma ST7

Not everybody wants to buy a PC for playing games, but for those who do, the Cube247 Sigma ST7 will prove very difficult to resist.

It doesn't have the fastest processor, but as far as real-world performance goes, it would be hard to beat this PC for pace. The X1950 XTX is a fantastic graphics card, and considering the delights on offer, a £1,399 price tag is very reasonable.

Cube247 Delphinius ST6

This sparkler from Cube247 is the most expensive offering in our AMD vs Intel round-up. There's a £550 gap between this system and the Mesh Titan 5000 PPX. But if you're expecting the gap to be explained by the Mesh having an inferior chip, you'd be...

While the Cube247 may be faster than the Mesh Titan 5000 PPX, we can't help but feel that the performance gap isn't high enough to compensate for the huge £550 price difference. If you're in the market for an Athlon system, the Mesh would still be...

Cube247 Sigma ST5

The Sigma ST5 isn't outstanding, but it's a very assured system. Cube247 has gone for safe specifications, rather than taking a risk on a hot product or two.

This is another solid system from Cube247. It isn't as inspired in its choice of components as the showstoppers in the Power PC category, but performance is generally good – and considering the price tag, this PC will make a good-value acquisition.

Cube247 Zeta ST4

At this price point, Pentium 4 processors are fairly thin on the ground. This could be because Athlons are faster for the money; the Cube247's WorldBench score of 92 is three to six points off the pace set by our top Athlon PCs. Then again, there are...

The Cube247 Zeta ST4 is no Superbudget trailblazer, despite enjoying the rarity of a Pentium processor. It's a very decent system that will provide reliability and satisfaction for most office workers and digital photo fans, but there are other...

Cube247 Serpens

Neither of the other PC categories offer the same no-holds-barred performance as the Power division. Neither, for that matter, do they provoke the same debate about what represents value for money.

So, is the Serpens worth it? Well, we think so. You'll have to be quite wealthy to justify the expense, but it's not extortionate, and we can't find a great deal wrong with it. General Windows performance is stunning, the sound and drives are...
