Dell OptiPlex GX620

You can configure the chameleon-like OptiPlex GX620 as a midtower, desktop, small-form-factor, or ultra-small-form-factor system. All this flexibility comes with some performance sacrifices, but most business users will find everything they need.

Available in four chassis designs; competitively priced; wide variety of CPU choices, including 64-bit; three-year support is standard.

Mediocre performance; limited upgrades in some areas; no option for a media-card reader.

The competitively priced OptiPlex GX620 is powerful enough for most business users, and its wide-ranging configuration options, including four case choices, mean it can fill a variety of office needs.

Dell Optiplex GX620 MT

Dell's Optiplex PCs are a common sight on the desks of corporate users across the country and around the world. I recently looked at the Dell Optiplex GX620 ($1,535 direct, $1,247 without monitor), evaluating it from the perspective of the...

Quiet. Available in different form factors. Dual-core processor. Dual monitor support. Support for growing businesses

Dongle required for monitor connectivity (even single monitor). Choices (form factors, processors, and the like) can be daunting to the home office user

Spanning a wide range of processors, cases, and service options, Dell's Optiplex GX620 provides plenty of flexibility—and speed—for small-business owners.

Dell OptiPlex GX620 Review

A speedy, space-saving office PC with excellent 17-inch LCD monitor, Small-form-factor design a nice compromise between ultra-small and larger desktop models

Price climbs sharply with faster CPUs; small selection of low-profile PCI and PCIe x16 cards

At the front of the case, you'll find headphone and microphone jacks and two USB 2.0 ports. Around the back are six more USB 2.0, Gigabit Ethernet, parallel, serial, integrated VGA, and audio-in, -out, and microphone ports, plus the DVI and S-Video...

Dell - OptiPlex GX620

Consumer review (newegg.com)

Looks like new

I installed a SSD drive for the OS, a 2TB drive for DVR, upgraded the ram to 4GB and installed a better graphic card all of which I had laying around and I now have a great DVR system to record data from my security cameras.

Makes for a cheap DVR system for my security cameras. This computer looks more like a new computer than a refurbished one. First there is no dust anywhere, the case fan, power supply, the heat sink nothing has any signs of dust. Even when a computer is...

The Windows 7 installation suffers the dreaded "Windows Update" error where it just sits there and spins looking for updates but that did not worry me because I installed the free Windows 10 update and I am happy is a pig in a mud puddle.

Good little Machine

I am happy with my purchase and the option to expand the machine to a degree. Worth the money and the couple issues for an operational security camera server. Thanks Newegg!

For the price you really cannot complain. Works good for web browsing, typing, light duty. After a $17 ram upgrade to 4 gigs, it operates very smooth. Has room to add a small graphics card. I use it as a server for my security cameras. Works great for...

It is no rocket ship, if you want this for anything more then surfing the web or word processing I would suggest going to a more powerful machine. Needs more then 2 gigs of ram immediately. Needed windows updates badly. This will vary from machine to...

Windows 7 SP1 WILL NOT get updates from Microsoft!!!

We have tried many Windows Update repair ideas from Microsoft.com and from 3rd parties, and will now be calling Joy Systems. By the way, my tech guru is having the same problem on a client's OptiPlex 320 which was purchased through Newegg from Joy...

Good cosmetic condition coming out of the box, although there was a loose cable rattling around inside! Found it before 1st power up. The Windows 7 system booted up with errors but eventually joined the home office network and appeared to be running...

The Windows 7 SP1 system WILL NOT get updates from Microsoft! There are about 200 updates since the release of SP1 and this system just churns the Windows Update application. My tech guru has rebuilt the system using the Joy Systems recovery partition...
