The eMachines T5226 is a solid yet inexpensive desktop that runs a dual-core processor and Windows Vista Premium.

Inexpensive. Dual-core processor. Good entry point to Vista Premium. Integrated media card reader. A smidge cheaper than its predecessor.

Weak integrated graphics. Only 60-day Internet security subscription. A bunch of trialware and other semiuseful programs on the hard drive.

The eMachines T5226 PC has a fair amount of expandability; strong support, both online and off; and acceptable core features and performance.

No built-in wireless networking; competing budget PC from HP has better performance for the dollar.

eMachines' new T5226 desktop is powerful enough to run Windows Vista smoothly. It should also power you through most of the common modern-day applications without too much fuss. We just wish it offered more compelling hardware for the money. You can...
