Gateway DX430X

The DX430X, Gateway's mainstream system, is a leap above its eMachines brethren and runs with last year's high-end systems.

New styling. Very good performance. Lots of inputs and outputs. Powerful graphics card. Wireless networking. Removable hard drive bay.

"Soft-Touch" mouse is a little stiff (at least it's optical). McAfee security software subscription only 90 days. Internal cables a bit unruly. Portable Media Drive uses non-standard USB ports. No HD DVD or Blu-ray option.

Gateway DX430X

Gateway DX430X

Attractive new case design; strong 3D game performance thanks to an overclocked graphic card; plenty of configuration options; faster CPU only costs a little bit more.

Game performance comes at the expense of a faster CPU and overall application speed; no Digital TV Tuner or HD optical drive option; no second graphics card slot.

Gateway's recently revamped mainstream desktop has plenty of configurability and a fair price. This particular config sacrifices overall performance for 3D gaming power, which some of you will appreciate. We'd rather it was more well-rounded.

Consumer review (viewpoints.com)

with windows 7 it works great ”

Gateway's DX430x has so much going for it. Enough to almost make it a five star rated computer system. The problem is that they failed to keep the storage features in line with what other companies are offering as standard features for their desktop...
