Gateway Profile 5.5

Unlike other all-in-one systems we've seen, the Gateway Profile 5.5 uses the monitor base to house components that are usually mounted on the side of the screen, making access to them easier.

Compact design. Wireless mouse and keyboard. Memory card reader. 802.11g wireless adapter

Screen does not pivot from side to side. Internal speakers are tinny

While not as pretty as the Apple iMac, the Gateway Profile 5.5 packs lots of features into its cleverly designed frame.

Gateway Profile 5.5

Gateway's well-designed update to the Profile all-in-one series looks good and performs admirably, but we're not convinced it's worth the added cost.

Nifty, space-saving design; fairly priced for an all-in-one; bright display.

Not upgradable; expensive compared to most current midrange PCs; subpar performance.

While Gateway targets the Profile 5.5 at businesses, we think the system's lack of an upgrade path makes it better for students, apartment dwellers, and other space-constrained home users.
