HP Blackbird 002 Exhilaration Edition

The HP Blackbird Exhilaration Edition is more exasperating than exhilarating, as its performance lags similarly priced systems.

Great case, easy to upgrade and service.

Performance numbers not competitive. Pricey system.

HP BlackBird 002 LCi

Boasting distinct design features inside and out, the Blackbird 002 is a creation of boutique gaming PC maker VoodooPC, which HP acquired last year. Although it's designed with gamers in mind, the exceptional build quality of the quad-core Blackbird...

Innovative design, superior thermals ; Quad-core processor

Total cost can run high ; Limited hard drive capacity

This innovative, superbly designed power PC delivers admirable performance, but it doesn't come cheap.

HP Blackbird 002

The first true collaboration between HP and Voodoo PC has arrived: the HP Blackbird 002 ($5,400 direct), a pedigreed gaming system using technologies from both companies. This system—named after the Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird reconnaissance plane—gives...

Innovative case looks fast even when off. Speedy quad-core overclocked processor and graphics. Innovative case makes it easy to upgrade, especially hard drives. Innovative case has robust graphics-card retention

Slot-loading drives necessitate use of DVD burners instead of HD DVD or Blu-ray (for now). A little bloatware

Sleek like its reconnaissance-plane namesake, the HP Blackbird 002 is poised to excel on a specialized mission: ruling the game grid.

HP Blackbird 002

Label us Luddites for resisting Windows Vista, but there's no arguing the point that the new OS currently offers very little you can't get faster with Windows XP. That goes double for games, which is why we're baffled by HP's decision to run Vista...

Awesome design using standard components; CrossFire running on nForce

Videocard driver crash bug; unimpressive gaming performance (due to Vista)

Buy this machine and you won’t care which camp wins the next skirmish in the GPU wars because you’ll be covered either way—as rightly you should be. That’s just one of the features that endow the Blackbird 002 with such potential for greatness. Yes,...

HP Blackbird 002 Exhilaration Edition Review

It's almost been a year since we reviewed the HP Blackbird 002 gaming PC, featured on our 2007 Holiday Gift Guide. In June of this year, HP revved up it's engines and released the new Blackbird 002 Exhilaration Edition, featuring the latest NVIDIA GTX...

Crysis-capable ; Latest and greatest components ; Easy to upgrade

Not the performance boost we were hoping for

It's certainly a speedy system, and will play all of today's latest games, but priced out at over $6500 bucks, it doesn't give the exhilaration that it should for that kind of price.
