HP ProLiant ML110 Storage Server

The HP ProLiant ML110 Storage Server is HP's solid, entry-level NAS product based on the increasingly common Windows Storage Server 2003 OS.

Good for those without an equipment rack; fast and easy system recovery.

Drives are hard to change and there are no drive status lights.

If you're already an HP customer, if you're especially enamored of Windows Storage Server 2003, or if your company policy requires the use of Windows—and if you're looking for a desktop model—the ML 110 is a solid, no-frills choice.

Service and support

HP ProLiant ML110

Accessible, attractive case design; solid speed.

Setup could be easier.

If HP had only included some software tools to make setup easier, the ProLiant ML110 would be a great entry-level option.

A real server at a great price!

If this server is in your price range, no reason to look else where.

Excellent build quality. Very useful remote management capabilities. Excellent support from HP. Returned a Lenovo server for this server and couldn't be happier

Should include the drive rail kit for at least one drive. Still not a deal breaker but would have been nice to avoid the hassle of ordering one

Not as good as expected

I had to purchase HD caddies for the rack. They were not included. The description said it had redundent power suppies, but in only came with one. Will have to add another to make it redundent.I could not get hardware raid to work. I had to use the...

HP 664723-S01

Surprisingly doesn't get too loud. I've only had 2 or so VMs running at a time on it and it has handled wonderfully.

Got this on sale for $299 ; 4 Front loading HDD bays ; 2 GB NICs ; Added 8GB of RAM and installed ESXI without an issue. Recognized all the harddrives I had added

Not hot swappable drives but for the price it's fine

up to 32GB

was able to up it to 32GB ECC Unbuffered DIMM. Excellent BIOS. Excellent POST and diagnostic, it even shows you what you pressed during POST ; Installed Fedora 17 straight from USB stick ; It is a server, so expect the fans to be loud. I got 3 of these...

Too bad it has issues

I really ,really wanted to be able to find a fix and keep this server, it has a lot of potential, but man, was this thing loud! As usual, Newegg was wonderful to deal with getting my things RMA'd.

I got this on sale for $299.00 ; Has very nice features for the price and has the potential to be a nice little server

It's too bad I got the dreaded fan issue - the case fan spins at a ridiculous speed and sounds like a jet taking off. There are all sorts of posts about this if you do a search on the web and there is no real fix. I updated the BIOS and firmware, did...

Terrible RAID controller

Don't buy one of these. Get yourself a nice solid desktop unit, with a quality power supply. Intel SoftRAID is pretty good, and nearly all servers will have tons of CPU power available to run the parity calculations for RAID5... unless you absolutely...

It's cheap

You don't want one of these. It's not really 'server-grade hardware', it's the usual cheap junk. What do you expect, at these prices? And the RAID controller in use is terrible. The onboard Intel RAID controller on almost any current desktop will beat...

Nice server works good for voip box

Slightly loud. Had to replace mother board battery as it was not keeping time

Supports 32GB of RAM

Solid server for the price. My primary use for this server is as a VMware lab server since the CPU supports EPT which allows virtualization passthrough to nested VMs. Installed ESXi 5.1, change BIOS power settings to OS Control. The C state settings...

No real cons. A real RAID controller would be nice, but for the price that's acceptable
