HP Pavilion Slimline s3500f

The HP Pavilion Slimline s3500f is a solid, compact, wireless desktop PC, good for a student on a budget who's into multimedia but doesn't care about 3D gaming.

Compact. Integrated power supply. Expandable. Pocket Media Drive Bay. 4GB of memory. Nice styling. Wireless networking.

Only a 60-day subscription to Internet security. Half-height PCIe x16 slot. 160W power supply. Some of today's programs can?t run on 64-bit Vista. Weak integrated graphics.

HP Pavilion Slimline s3020n PC

With the HP Pavilion Slimline s3020n, HP has updated the Slimline PC with a couple of great features, especially the Pocket Media Drive bay.

Reasonable price for a dual-core PC. Compact. Quiet. HP Pocket Media Drive bay for data transport or additional storage. PCIe x16 slot in a compact PC. Wireless 802.11b/g networking.

Could use 2GB of RAM because of shared system memory. Ball mouse.

HP Pavilion Slimline s7510n

The compact HP Pavilion Slimline s7510n offers the basics with a twist—and for a very nice price.

Windows XP Media Center in a $500 system. 9-in-1 media card reader. Compact. Desktop-level components. Dual-layer DVD writer with LightScribe label burning. Quiet.

Celeron-M is a little slow for really strenuous multimedia tasks. Only 60 days of Norton Internet Security subscription.

HP Pavilion Slimline Media Center s7500y PC

This latest version of HP's Slimline PC line isn't the step forward it should have been.

Small and quiet. Customizability. TV tuner (finally!). Desktop hard drive and optical drive. Built-in wireless networking.

Single-core processor. Single, SDTV-only tuner. A little pricey for its class. Short, 60-day security software subscription. Performance boost of Pentium M over Celeron M not enough to justify cost difference. Requires ugly USB IR receiver.

HP Pavilion Slimline s5310y review: HP Pavilion Slimline s5310y

HP Pavilion Slimline s5310y

Slim, space-saving tower.

Sluggish processor; lacks HDMI output, Gigabit Ethernet, and wireless networking; insufficient hard drive; limited room for internal expansion.

With poor system performance and a severe drought in features, we recommend leaving this clunker on the shelf and picking up the Gateway SX2840-01, a highly capable budget desktop with a faster processor chip, a bigger hard drive, and a larger variety...

HP Pavilion Slimline s5220y review: HP Pavilion Slimline s5220y

HP Pavilion Slimline s5220y

Decent light-duty performance, compact size.

Slim tower case conserves space but offers little room for expansion; limited connectivity options.

The HP Pavilion Slimline s5220y provides adequate performance for light-duty media editing and entertainment, but its slim tower case leaves little room for future upgrades, leading us to recommend the older Gateway SX2800-01 that offers more features...

HP Pavilion Slimline s5120y review: HP Pavilion Slimline s5120y

HP Pavilion Slimline s5120y

Friendly-looking new design.

Less upgrade room than competition despite its larger size; too-spare connectivity options; lackluster performance.

As much as we've appreciated HP's efforts in bringing the slim tower to the mainstream, we cannot recommend this off-the-shelf Pavilion Slimline s5120y. Even considering its low price, its design, features, and performance all come up short next to its...
