HP TouchSmart 600 Quad

Competition is stiff in the category of big-screen all-in-one PCs. TV tuners and large hard drives are becoming standard features, as manufacturers attempt to displace televisions in dorm rooms and cramped bedrooms with high-definition-capable,...

Impressive audio performance ; Extensive media connectivity ; Strong general performance

Middling Webcam quality

HP's latest TouchSmart packs a punch, delivering strong media-theater functionality and the line's signature TouchSmart style.

HP TouchSmart 600 Desktop Review

1080p screen, Blu-ray drive, HDTV tuner ; Excellent custom touch-enabled applications

Weak graphics performance ; Limited upgradability

This third-generation TouchSmart PC is boosted by Windows 7's gesture support, but HP's custom multitouch software is even more impressive.

HP TouchSmart 600-1055 PC

The HP TouchSmart 600-1055 PC ($1,599 list) is HP's third generation of TouchSmart PCs for the home. HP pioneered touch computing for the home and each successive generation has gotten better. The latest model combines HP's Touch experience with...

Blu-ray player. True 1080p HD. Ambient Lighting. Bluetooth and 802.11 b/g/n. Minimal bloatware. Kitchen friendly. Very adjustable. Wireless everything but power and TV. HDMI and game inputs

Only 60-day subscription to Norton Internet Security. Some competitors offer Quad Core at this price point. $100-200 more expensive than rivals

The HP TouchSmart 600-1055 PC is HP's top-of-the-line Windows 7 PC that shows how touch screen interfaces are going mainstream.

HP TouchSmart 600-1155 Review

When we heard HP was building its latest TouchSmart with Intel's Core i7 processor, we figured it was game-over for the competition: Lenovo and Sony use quad-cores, too, but they both tapped Intel's Core 2 Quad. MSI picked an even less capable Core 2...

Best-in-breed touch-screen; excellent webcam; IR emitter; 6GB DDR3

Relatively slow CPU; relies on external power brick

All four machines feature integrated webcams, but the one built into the TouchSmart delivered far superior image quality and it tilts, so you can use it seated or standing. All four machines come with TV tuners, but only HP thought to include an IR...

HP TouchSmart 600-1055

Evaluating successive generations of HP's TouchSmart series reminds us of shopping for a new car. If you fall in love and buy this year's model, you must never, ever visit the showroom to look at next year's model or you'll be hit with a bout of...

Blu-ray drive; HDMI input; improved touchscreen UI; touch-optimized third-party apps

Weak benchmark performance; integrated audio amp needs more power

We had refrained from benchmarking all-in-one machines until Dell sent us its XPS One 24 (May 2009), which came with an Intel Core 2 Quad Q8200 desktop CPU; so it’s only fair that we benchmark HP’s offering, too. (We still don’t run our gaming...

HP TouchSmart 600 All-In-One PC Review

With a claim of “nearly 30-years of touch innovation” under its belt, HP is no stranger to touch-input technology. The company has recently integrated touch input into a number of its consumer and business product lines, such as tablets and displays...

There is one last performance metric to mention, and it is one that more and more people are becoming concerned with: power consumption. We can’t tell you how owning a TouchSmart 600 is going to impact your carbon footprint, but we can tell you how...

HP TouchSmart 600 Review: Multitouch Multimedia Mogul

The HP TouchSmart 600 is sort of like a girl I "dated" in fourth grade. I can't say I loved her, but I can say that I really, really liked her a lot. But the TouchSmart never wore braces.

Intel Core 2 Duo 2.13GHz, 4GB DDR3 RAM, slot-load Blu-ray player/DVD burner, NVIDIA GeForce GT230M with 1GB dedicated RAM, 23-inch 1080P multitouch display, and a slew of inputs, including 6 USB, a card reader, coax, S-Video, HDMI, audio and composite
