If this matters...

I guess it has be to quality control issue with box not properly tested for such static noise, i have tried with windows, linux, just cd, even disconnecting everything just boot with usb and still issue.

Name, Size, i7, portability. One of the reason i bought it is, a portable power machine for my sound and video project. I head a lot, so decided to go with shuttle. Looks good

I am writing this because i had two RMA, still have the same issue with the third machine ; 1) 1-RMA-stereo headphone was not working ; 2) 2-RMA-both headphone and mic has heavy static electricity ; 3) I own it and this one has headphone and mic has...

Poor Ventilation

The stock case may be fine for non gaming applications. My GeForce GTX 560 Ti fans are right up against the side of the case with no holes. I have since drilled more holes in the side to help the video card breathe better. By time I am done adding all...

Perfect size for my use. No problems installing hardware or software

Stock case has little ventilation compared to other Shuttles I have owned. I have had to spend extra time and money on fans, fan controllers and fan screens to get some air through the case. And since it is a Shuttle, there is little extra room for...

Not the best ITX solution

I am thinking that Shuttle PC are good for lower end machine. Doesn't make sense a Shuttle PC for 1366

Very compact, enough room for 2 HDD and an optical drive, built-in media card reader, slick design. Very easy to operate inside, ESATA with power is cool

The BIOS really sucks: very few options compared to the standard Award BIOS, very hard to boot from non default media ; No reset button ; The CPU fan is very loud for a few seconds after power on. It makes me wonder if that is going to be the level of...

As advertised

This is an excellent system for those that know what they want, and cannot buy off the shelf. If you've never built one before there are a couple of excellent youtube videos that take you through the build.

Built this computer to use as a home lab device. I work with server based software, as such I needed something that was fast, handled virtualization well, could go to 16GB memory and I could install multiple internal drives to gain some speed ; Build...

Only con, the internal SATA connections provided power for 3 drives (2 internal disk, 1 DVD). However, even though the case supports 4 internal SATA, there were only 2 signal cables. Why Shuttle couldn't through in a couple of extra $3 cables is beyond...

Shuttle i7 Box Build

Very pleased. Running about 7.1 performance scale. HDD xfer rate is the only hold back. It was about 30 minutes of time and just under $920. Already had a decent graphics card. Solid gaming / LAN party box. Keep the box for transport. Shuttle SX58J3...

This Shuttle box was easy to open with 3 thumb screws, heat pipe in pure genius and goes in with 4 screws on the CPU, and 4 on the fan. It took me <5 minutes to install the CPU. Love the new "pinless" cpus (no bent pins). Drive cage was 2 screws to...

Minor. Lacked some fine thread screws for OD and HDD. Only thing I required was 8 screws and 2 small wire ties. It is a small box, so if you have big hands, it will take patience or a smaller friend

Bottom line: Best in Class

There's not much to it. It holds 1 optical drive, 1 or 2 hard drives, 4 sticks of RAM, and a mid-size dual slot (or 2 single slot) video card. My build: Shuttle SX58J3, Win7 Ultimate 64-bit, i7-920 (but can handle the 980X), 6GB OCZ PC3-12800 (1600,...

Top-end x58 Shuttle motherboard. Excellent layout, nice construction, quiet and cool. Lower front panel hides MMC/SD/MS card reader, USB, headphone/mic, eSata; optical drive hides behind the automatic flip-out panel. Super easy to put together....

BIOS is pretty limited but probably ample for an SFF box which many will use for HTPC or LAN parties. There's no reset switch that I can find. Tight for longer video cards or ones with power connections on the side (top when installed?) instead of the end

Slick and Compact

New Build Shuttle SX58J3, Win7 Premium (64), I7-950 quad core, 6MB Corsair XMS3 PC3-12800, 120GB OCZ 3.5" AG2 SSD, HSI Silent HD5550 512 GDDR5, Asus BD combo drive.

One of the best Shuttles yet, great layout, Solid Construction, good PSU capacity, easy to assemble and get up and running. BIOS (ver. 102) no brainer on setup, mostly all default. CPU and Case temps well within tolerance despite also handling a...

Be aware there is no reset button, and no PSU power switch, and you will learn not to hit the adjacent power button when you open or close the Optical drive. None of these though are a big deal, and shouldn't eliminate this latest shuttle box from...

Solid - Not for Overclockers

This is a great little box. Probably the fastest SFF box out right now. Great to take to lan parties.

Put it together and it just works. Fast. Nice design

Manually setting memory timings have no effect on BIOS 102 ; Cannot get chassis fan header to control fan speed ; Runs hot (but understandable due to this thing's size) ; Very little forum participation

Great Box

I've been a fan of Shuttle's for a while and they are excellent constructions and stability. I built mine with i7 Hex core Gulftown, 16 Gig RAM G.Skill RAM, WD SSD drive, Nvidia ECS NBGTS250E-1GMU-F GeForce GTS 250 1GB (tight fit but works), Installed...

Solid Construction ; 500W Power Supply ; Very well laid out ; Great cooling

Careful when choosing a Video Card, not really a con but you need to be aware that it is tight for upper end video cards

Very, very nice

I built this to replace a $6400 Dell XPS730 that was so big and overengineered that couldn't get out of its own way. This little box runs rings around it at 1/3 the price with none of the heat, noise or bulk. I am running the i7 930, 8 GB of memory, 3...

Delightfully compact, easy to assemble, impressive cooling, runs like a bandit, dual PCI express slots, front panel e-SATA & card reader, upgradeable to a mini-ITX board, low voltage DIMMs (1.65V), great price point

No mobo video, no front panel access for 2.5" bays, no reset button
