Fast, Loud and Poorly Designed

I bought it cheap(er) through the outlet and also needed a powerful CPU quickly. I would be outraged if I paid full retail for this level of poor design.

With dual Quad Xeons and a Quadro FX 4600, it's fast.

The thermal design is very inadequate, or at least outdated for the demands put upon it. The fans are very loud, and always run just shy of full throttle. There is no way to adjust them down in software/bios. Sitting next to my desk, it's a...

Great machine with lots of potential...

Fast performance, stable system, lots of expandability. I would strongly recommend getting lots of ram if your a CAD user. The quad-core Xeon cpu's can handle anything you throw at them. My machine only has 2 GB of ram and it does pretty good but I...

Xeon quad core processors are very fast.

Fans are noisy but definitely needed to cool the performance going on inside.

LOUD Fan Noise

Buy a 390. I don't see enough performance to justify the extra expense, especially with the shoddy airflow design and components. I can't even replace the fans because of the proprietary wiring and bios settings.

Fast computer with dual xeon processors.

The fan noise is very distracting. We have 390's that are great and quiet. Dell sent me a replacement fan, but it was the same.

Equipped with a 3.0 GHz processor, 4 GB RAM, a 256 MB Graphics card and Windows XP, this is the fastest performing Windows system I have ever used (gaming systems excepted). The compact case takes a relatively small footprint when used as a tower--it...

My only "demerit" would be for the slightly high fan noise, but this is not a major issue in my case ; after a minute or two I find it easy to ignore

Very noisy PC

This PC is undoubtebly very fast and solidly built

Precision 490 is unusual in the fact that it has two large fans fitted into the chassis. To make matters worse they do not seem to be intelligently controlled so that they only run when needed. The noise level created by the fans is more than I have...
