Shuttle XPC Prima SX38P2 Pro - HardwareZone.com

It was only a matter of time before Shuttle updated its flagship small form factor PC to the newest chipset and the XPC Prima SX38P2 Pro is its attempt to port Intel's enthusiast class X38 chipset.

Shuttle XPC SX38P2 Pro review

CrossFire in something so small? It's a crazy, crazy world

X38 Express chipset ; Single height CrossFire ; Cleverly designed

Limited PSU power

The daddy of Micro-ATX barebones systems. Worth every penny if you’re after a small PC

Review: Shuttle SX38P2 Pro barebones PC

Intel's fastest chipset and crossfire support packed into a tiny box

Pretty good

Make sure you check the list on their site for what can and can not be used before you buy anything. The case has a fingerprint scanner installed, but even with the drivers I have no idea how to get it working.

Looks great, it's small so it doesn't hog all your desk space. The motherboard supports 8GB of RAM. Great method of stacking drives internally to maximize the small space. All of the usable cards/chips are listed on their help website

The power supply can NOT be upgraded due to the fact that the power supply is custom to the case. The video card is limited to roughly 9 1/2 inches or less due to a motherboard power cable which is in the way. The power cable is in a poor spot, but not...

Not for gamers

Will probably be my last Shuttle if video cards continue getting bigger and more power-hungry. The small compact case is Shuttles turn-on, but it needs to be able to keep up with these huge cards.

This is my 3rd Shuttle case, simply cannot beat the price and the simplicity of the barebones system. Once again this case is solid. They seem to have really nailed down the cooling and noise issues from their earlier models

Will NOT fit the new Nvidia GTX 260 and above video cards in there current state. ($30 restocking fee mistake on my part here). Must settle for a GTS 250 which is an inch shorter than the GTX 260+ series. This was a disappointment. The ATX PWR2...

Still Impressed

I contacted Shuttle tech support with a technical product question after purchase. I expected nothing because I'd read a few comments that they don't respond. However, they responded quickly and to every email and question. Quite helpful and pleasant....

This is a follow-up to my previous review, since that was made just after purchase. No change in my satisfaction--I continue to be impressed by this computer. So much that I'm writing a second review. It is easily the most stable system I've ever...

None that I've found. I feel bad for those few that have had a bad experience.

Great system

I'm not a game player, but purchased this to run multiple virtual systems with VirtualBox on Solaris. No regrets.

This is a smartly designed system, right down to the CPU exhaust fan gasket that ensures the hot air doesn't recirculate into the computer. It's quiet (you have control of the fans in the BIOS), and quick. I installed 8GB of G.Skill PC2 8000 memory...

My First Shuttle, Great Experience, Amazing Product!

I will say that the 450 W does very well. I've heard of people running 4850s in CF mode using this barebones computer. It is not recommended, but it will work, the PSU can handle it. The fan controller and the fingerprint reader drivers aren't...

Cool ; Quiet ; Very Easy to complete build ; Very well organized ; I had this computer up and running in 45 min. Right now I have a C2D E6750 @ 3.2ghz, 4 gb (2x2gb of gskill ram), an MSI 8800 GT OC, 1 74 gig raptor, and 1 500 gb caviar. Very smooth and...

needs more space for crossfire graphics (right now to have crossfire, you can only use 1 slot cards) ; needs more power (450W is kind of low) ; some software isn't supported under vista 64
