Works beautifully as an OpenBSD router/firewall

What can I say, this thing works beautifully for routing and firewalling. It's more than powerful enough for a home network, even during gaming. I haven't tried doing anything else with it.

Small ; Inexpensive ; Powerful enough for routing/firewalling

Fan may be a little loud, but that's nit picking

Overall Sat

FREENAS is great freeware to use for a home built NAS. works with Mac, PC, Xbox and PS3. You are able to use any network feature you can think of.

Only Gave it a 4star due to the Fact that I only use it as a NAS. Work well for what it is doing. Curently using FREENAS(on a Flash Drive) and 2 - 2tb HDD. Had to modify the the internals so the HDD would fit. Once it was set up I dont even know that...

Perfect For m0n0wall

Looks like I bought the last one! If you can find this or similar its perfect for a router/firewall with Monowall just pick up this product as well http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822998002&cm_re=cf_to_ide-_-22-998-002-_-Product...

Dual Gigabit Lan, Low Power@max40watts, small foot print, good ventilation when on its side, serial port, perfect for Monowall, will outlast off the shelf routers by years, headless just plug in LAN/WAN 12VDC power and you are done

As other people mentioned RAM>1gb is an issue but I am using 512mb which is more than enough for monowall (64mb max). This thing hates to boot via USB, keep that in mind when installing any OS (I preinstalled monowall on the CF card) messy cables...

good box for routing

Once you find memory for it, this is a great box for an Untangle router. For the record, I tried a new 1GB stick of Corsair memory (item #N82E16820145525) and it did not work in this box. I ended up having to pull an older, low-density 1GB stick out...

Dual NICs, low-power processor, small form-factor make this ideal for a router

Picky about memory. As a previous reviewer mentioned, you have to find low density memory for this box. Of course Newegg doesn't specify things like this for memory, so you have to do some research before purchasing

Solid so far

Good cheap setup hope it lasts. Newegg rocks

Set this up with ubuntu 9.10 server. All devices supported. I have this running as my firewall/NAT, OpenVPN, and DHCP3 server. Runs like a champ

Had to RMA the first one. It wouldn't boot at all. Also had to use a usb cdrom. I tried UNetbootin to load ubuntu but I could not get that to work

Great buy, if I could find memory.

I'm using this to build a second untangle router. I bought one of these a year ago, but the board in this new one is slightly different. The memory has to be pretty specific and Jetway points out the right direction: VIA CN700 on J7F41G5S can only...

Small foot print ; Low power ; Dual GB network interfaces ; SATA or IDE

Great as an Appliance

As an internet appliance (IE, no video acceleration needed) Clark Connect 5.0 ran out of the box. Plugged in IDE CD-ROM to do initial install, then removed as unneeded. Newegg (as is their custom) was great in accepting the return of the incompatible...

Dual Network Interfaces are perfect for small low power gateway network appliance. I setup to use Clark Connect 5.0. Caching Proxy, Bandwidth Manager, LAMP Server, etc. Works Great, quiet and low power. Used BIOS to configure fan to not turn on until...

Newegg does not seem to carry Low Density RAM needed to make unit work at 1GB. Search for 64x8 1GB DDR2 on world's largest auction side to find compatible 1GB RAM

Nice little system for a router

This system came up just fine the first time. Both ports appear to be working. I'm in the process of turning it into a router/firewall/internet filter. I've installed Xubuntu 9.10 (Linux) on it, and it came up great. I didn't want to buy a CD-DVD/ROM...

Quiet ; Good set of USB ports ; Runs like a champ ; Runs cool and at low power

It has a pci slot, but no way that I can see an outside slot for external inputs on certain pci cards. I hope I don't need a third ethernet port ; USB boot-up doesn't work as advertised

nice firewall

If you know how to config a network, get this box and use Untangle or Clark Connect and for about 200 bucks you'll have a setup that rivals a 600 sonicwall firewall/router....nice jetway jc300 1 gig ram 640 gig wd green

Running Untangle as a gateway/firewall- runs nice, a little slow to load. As everyone has said use low density ram. Built this firewall as a demo for clients and its on my home network now with 9 servers/desktops and 3 NAS's and it runs flawlessly. The...

I was hoping the VIA chip would have a little bit more horsepower- maybe the same setup with a duel core atom with 2 nics- now thats what i want
