Great Drive

Great drive but feel like it died too soon.

Great Drive, Worked well for me for the 3+ years I had it ; Bought it at 2/1/2011

Died shortly after 3 years ; I had no signs that the drive was failing, except one day I turn on PC and it says I have to run chkdsk on failing drive and it is inaccessible. Fortunately this drive has just movies/songs on it but its unfortunate that I...

Replacement for my TivoHD

After some initial issues that were resolved using wdidle3 utility, this drive was a great replacement for my 2nd failed TivoHD hard drive

needed to reset idle timer to make it fully compatible with TivoHD

Great replacement HD

This is a good replacement HD for the Direct Tv HR21 DVR. The only hard job was taking the unit apart to replace the drive. Just install the drive and power up DVR and the drive is set up. I saved about $140.00 by using this drive over buying one from...

DOA

1 DOA, out of countless WD I have bought is not bad. I still give the thing 5 eggs.

The pros are... I have had 2 of these for almost 3 years now with no problems whatsoever. WD is a lot better than the seagate I bought and it pooped out after a year

This one was DOA. BUT having said that... things happen. And it most likely was UPS fault. Set up an RMA, using the money to help a buddy out with a mobo

So far, so good

WD replaced the failed drive with a higher capacity equivalent that's still working so far, but only *after* I RMA'd the failed drive. That's standard and expected, but it means I have to have extra capacity laying around to recover data from failing...

It's lasted six months ; Gaps between songs are short, few and far between (this drive stores my music collection as .flac files) compared to other magnetic media I've used in the past

Noticeable* gaps between songs are *not* non-existent, meaning real seek times ~0.5seconds = ~500milliseconds, not ~10milliseconds advertised. Not saying that advertised seek times are fraudulent, just that they're averages with significant,...

DOA

None to list, drive never worked

Drive was DOA, Bios did not see it despite it being connected properly. Tried 2 different sata cables, nothing

Worst drive ever

good size and features for price

Extremely unreliable, slow performance when it does work. 100% failure rate in a 1 year period. 3 drives, 3 bricks. WD black drives have always been great, but the green drives are horrible. They are slow and prone to read/write errors and just get...

DOA.

My time is worth something. If I RMA this drive, I would have to test the third drive halfway to destruction, and I would never trust it. No more WD. They've taken my money, hope they're happy. It is the last they'll get from me.

Cheap

First drive DOA. Failed smartctl. RMA-ed, no problem. Second drive - bad sectors, bad blocks. There will be no third drive. This is electronic recycle. Nothing against Newegg, they've been great as usual

7200 RPM DRIVE

Apparently, this drive slows down its spindle speed when not accessed after a long time out. However, when accessed the speed goes up to 7200 rpm. It's not clear whether the drives totally spins down after an even longer time when not being accessed.

Lots of capacity. 3 year warranty. When fully spun up the rotational rate is 7200 rpm. Lower power consumption than WD's Blue and Black drives

None that I know

QUIET!!

I installed this drive in my HD TIVO after the previous two both made a clunking, clicking noise all the time. This drive solved that. Now my wife (who complained about the noise) and I are happy with our no-noise replacement.

Quietest drive I own
