Western Digital is a comparatively recent entrant to the fast-growing NAS market. Despite having had a Windows Storage Server-based product for business users for some time now, a custom embedded-Linux based SMB-targeted model was lacking. Avoiding...
Even though the power consumption during the rebuild process is high, the time taken is the lowest amongst all the 4-bay NAS units that we have seen so far. That said, the time take for expanding a 3-disk RAID-5 volume to a 4-disk RAID-5 volume is more...

WD's small single-disk network storage system is surprisingly cheap and good.

WD's ‘personal cloud' device looks neat, if not as fluffy as you'd expect
Simple and attractive design ; Its desktop app works well ; Good overall performance on our Gigabit network

It's short on apps, but the PR4100 provides an easily managed private cloud for file sharing and backup
Excellent performance ; Robust management console ; Solid RAID and backup capabilities
Limited app selection

Great simple-to-use, NAS device
Consumer review (buydig.com)
Easy to install and great way for me to stream my huge movie collection to view anywhere I'd like. Downside, it can only be expanded once up to 3T for a total of 7T.
Awesome Easy To Install

Simple device, it is not a raid 5 NAS but it has 2 major positive qualities - it is inexpensive and it stores data relatively fast, 30-35 mb/sec on large files, 5-7 mb/sec for many small files, just like any other linux box with Samba would work.
