Canon EOS 1Ds Mark II

Tremendous resolution; professional body; many improvements over original EOS 1Ds; superior handling; optional wireless photo transfer.

Expensive; large and heavy; requires high-capacity memory cards.

Canon's EOS 1Ds Mark II offers a wealth of features and the highest resolution of any small-format digital SLR, with a price to match.

Canon EOS-1Ds Mark II Review

The EOS-1Ds Mark II is the sixteen (point seven) megapixel successor to the EOS-1Ds which was announced almost exactly two years earlier. Carrying on from the EOS-1Ds the Mark II has a full size 35 mm (36 x 24 mm) sensor which means it introduces no...

Canon EOS 1Ds Mark II

Sixteen point six megapixels of effective resolution is really nice. Of course, the Canon EOS 1Ds Mark II costs about the same per megapixel as the Canon EOS 1D Mark II - 2x as much money

If you are not sure which Mark II is for you, the white paper link in the "More Canon EOS 1Ds Mark II Reviews" section below has some great information in it (dial-up users be warned - it is a large file).

Canon EOS-1Ds Mark II Digital Camera Review: Intro and Highlights

Canon has held a commanding position at the high end of the professional SLR market, ever since they introduced the original EOS-1D in late 2001. The full-frame 11-megapixel EOS-1Ds was likewise a breakthrough product when announced in 2002. In late...

Despite the significant jump in resolution from the EOS-1Ds (11 mp) to the EOS-1Ds Mark II (16.7 mp) the camera maintains an impressive four frames per second shooting rate and a buffer large enough for 32 JPEG or 11 RAW images. The EOS-1Ds Mark II's...
