The ; has a nice f2.0 ultrawide-angle lens, excellent photo quality for its class and a nice mix of shooting modes.

The 500 HS's touch interface is potentially frustrating and its shooting performance is a little slow.

The touch-screen controls keep the Canon PowerShot Elph 500 HS from being a lower-cost PowerShot S95 alternative for enthusiasts, but its otherwise a very good ultracompact.

The top-of-the-line touch-screen Canon PowerShot Elph 500 HS is an excellent compact camera with an impressive spec sheet and performance to match, but it'll cost you.
