Powershot A460 Digital Camera

Canon's PowerShot A460 has a sophisticated and durable look to it, yet it costs just $130 (as of 5/10/07). Though nicely designed, its boxy and chunky shape prevents it from being carried comfortably in a pocket. It will fit nicely into a small bag,...

4X zoom Exposure compensation

Lacks separate zoom control

Overall, the Canon PowerShot A460 is a nice package and a great value

If saving money and solid picture quality are your top needs, this PowerShot won't disappoint.

Very good picture quality. Decent performance. No shutter lag.

Terrible recycle time. Poor video quality.

Canon PowerShot A460 review

Budget cameras are everywhere these days. Plenty of snapshot cameras cost less than $200, and you can even find some for around $150. The Canon PowerShot A460 is in that second category of inexpensive shooters. This basic, 5-megapixel camera comes in...

4x zoom lens; optical viewfinder.

Very noisy images; awkward zoom rocker; no 30fps VGA movie mode.

With heavy image noise and merely decent performance, there are better budget cameras available than the Canon PowerShot A460.

Canon PowerShot A460 Digital Camera - Express Review

There are only a few bargain digital cameras that I would recommend to just about anyone. The Canon PowerShot A460 is just such a camera. Its 5-megapixel sensor is more than enough for the average snapshooter who is only likely to create 4x6 and...

Canon quality at a bargain price ; Great look and build ; Good image quality ; Simple to use, yet with some control ; Scene modes give beginners added shooting confidence ; Extra telephoto range ; Great 5-point AiAF autofocus ; AF Assist light built in...

Slow flash recycle ; Blows some highlights in bright sunlight ; Some chromatic aberration in the corners, especially at wide angle ; VGA movie mode is limited to 10 frames per second ; Unusual zoom control ; Bad pixels revealed by high contrast line...

Canon PowerShot A460 Review and Prices

Simple" and "basic" are the key words used to describe Canon's PowerShot A460 point-and-shoot digital camera, as it offers no significant manual-control features and is only going to appeal to novice photographers. Unfortunately, the PowerShot A460...

Great value, easy to use, image quality is good for price range, better than average zoom lens

Beginner-only feature list, LCD should be sharper, some noise problems in low-light images, could use a little more resolution

Read a digital camera review of the Canon PowerShot A460 point-and-shoot camera on DigitalCameraInfo.com; reviews, ratings, comparisons, and more.

Eschewing the current trend of downsizing bulky point-and-shoot cameras, the sizeable Canon PowerShot A460 has some attractive features for both novice and more advanced snapshoters. The camera comes with a 1/3.0-inch 5 MP CCD, a 4x optical zoom lens,...

Canon PowerShot A460 Digital Camera Review

Like all Canons, the PictBridge standard enables any digital camera that supports PictBridge to connect and print to any PictBridge compatible printer. This is the first time I'm not going to put a good word for a Canon camera. If you're an expert...

Canon PowerShot A460 digital camera

The PowerShot A460 updates its predecessor, the A430 with a slightly larger 2-inch colour screen and an extra million pixels, bringing the total effective resolution of the new model to 5 million pixels. First up, do not be put off by the camera “only”...

Good ergonomics, image quality as lower ISOs, easy to use, good metering and colour, good lens

Blocky design, intrusive noise at ISO 400, flimsy plastic battery/memory card hatch, slow flash recycle time, noise reduction processing hampers detail at higher ISOs

First up, do not be put off by the camera “only” having 5-megapixel sensor. This simply means there are less noise problems to worry about at a given sensitivity and the more manageable file sizes generated means you get more shots onto whatever...

Canon PowerShot A460

With heavy image noise and merely decent performance, there are better budget cameras available than the Canon PowerShot A460.

4x optical zoom lens ; Optical viewfinder

Very noisy images ; Awkward zoom rocker ; No 30fps VGA movie mode

The Canon PowerShot A460 would have been a good camera a few years ago, but these days it just doesn't cut it. With only 5-megapixel resolution and horrible image noise, we can't easily recommend this camera. Even among sub-AU$200 cameras, there are...
