Canon PowerShot A530

Robust controls and features; logical design.

Lackluster performance; noisy, high-ISO photos; awkward zoom switch.

The Canon PowerShot A530 is a solid budget camera that could use a shot of adrenaline.

Canon PowerShot A530

Canon introduces two new additions to its affordable line of point-n-shoot PowerShot cameras, the A540 and the A530. The A530 features five-megapixels of resolution together with a retractable 4x optical zoom lens with a focal length of 35-140mm (35mm equ

Full Manual control ; Vibrant, appealing color ; Good skin tones ; Auto white balance handles a wide range of lighting well ; Better than average exposure accuracy ; Good lens, generally low distortion ; Clean user interface ; Wide aspect ratio image...

No Aperture or Shutter Priority modes ; Only average speed from shot to shot ; Movie mode offers only 10fps at 640x480 or 20fps at 320x240 ; Average shutter response at wide angle settings ; Contrast is a little high, tends to lose highlight and shadow...

The Canon A530 features a 5.0-megapixel sensor, a 4x optical zoom lens, and full manual control. It's an impressive offering for a low price of less than $200

Canon PowerShot A530 Digital Camera Review

Unlike most og the compact digital cameras on the market (which usually feature 3x optical zoom), this Canon A530 comes with 4x optical zoom. The LCD is smaller than the newer cameras, it lacks the Shutter and Aperture Priority, but, it does have a...

Canon PowerShot A530

The Canon PowerShot A530 has 5 megapixels, a 1.8 inch LCD and a 4X zoom lens it shares with the cameras above. This camera may be distinguished from the higher-end A540 in several ways, but is image quality one of those points? Let's find out more...

Nice 4x zoom lens ; Good (not excellent) battery life ; Full manual mode ; Unlimited, fast continuous shooting ; Fast performance ; Produces good photos, low noise till ISO 400; ISO 800 useable for small prints ; Affordable

Small LCD with low resolution ; No priority modes; incompatible with conversion lenses ; Overall performance could be faster and better; especially autofocus ; Mediocre movie mode

I'll make this short and simple, the A530 is a watered down A540 which sells at a lower price. Things like battery life and image quality are still good and the full manual mode is a plus. Performance was snappy too.

Canon Powershot A530 Digital Camera Review

The Canon Powershot A530 is what I would call a compact digital camera. It will just fit into a shirt or pants pocket at 3.56 x 2.52 x 1.70 in (90.4 x 64.0 x 43.2 mm) and 6.00 oz (170 g). Add about an ounce and a half to this for the batteries. It...

Canon Powershot A530

If you've looked over our previous Canon camera reviews such as that of the much lauded <a href=http://www.goodgearguide.com.au/index.php/taxid;213621...

Fairly good images, Cheap, Lots of features

No exposure compensation in most modes, AA batteries

A nice, cheap advanced 5 megapixel model. It doesn't have the best image quality in the world, but at this price it is a decent buy.
