Canon PowerShot A70 Review

The three megapixel PowerShot A70 and two megapixel PowerShot A60 were introduced this year just in time for the Photo Marketing Association (PMA 2003) trade show in Las Vegas. The PowerShot 'A-series' are Canon's entry-level digital cameras, the A60...

Good resolution, about as much as we could expect from a three megapixel Good consistent metering Low image noise at ISO 50 and 100 (ISO sensitivity higher than indicated) Good color response, better overall balance than most, especially blues and...

No histogram in record review or play mode Auto white balance should be better Underexposed flash shots Annoying mirror surrounding LCD monitor Slight chromatic aberrations visible No image parameter adjustment No orientation sensor (seen on other...

Canon USA Powershot A70 Digital Camera Camera

WHAT'S HOT: The Canon PowerShot A70 straddles the line between point-and-shoot and advanced camera, at an astounding estimated street price of only $300. Its small size and light weight are typical of point-and-shoot cameras, and it offers six scene...

The better-than-average software bundle includes Canon's adequate photo utility for downloading and managing images, and ArcSoft Camera Suite 1.2 (a competent package for editing your still shots and movies). You also get thorough, nicely designed ,and...

Canon PowerShot A70 Digital Camera (Canon-8400A001)

A bargain-priced camera that tries to do it all--and mostly succeeds. It's ideal for situations where flexibility is more important than high resolution.

Canon PowerShot A70 review: Canon PowerShot A70

Canon PowerShot A70

Broad feature set for the money; speedy and efficient performance; accepts accessory lenses.

Flimsy-feeling CompactFlash compartment cover; distracting reflective frame around LCD.

Even though the A70 is targeted at the snapshot crowd, enthusiasts will love the Canon's advanced features--and price.

Digital Cameras - Canon Powershot A70 Digital Camera Review, Information, Specifications

As I mentioned at the outset, Canon's PowerShot A40 topped the charts on the IR website for popularity last year, outstripping all other camera models. - And for good reason: The A40 offered a rich set of features and excellent image quality at an...

Equipped with a 5.4-16.2mm lens, the A70 offers a 3x optical zoom range equivalent to a 35-105mm lens on a 35mm camera. Aperture ranges from f/2.8 to f/8.0 depending on the zoom setting, and can be manually or automatically adjusted. The A70 uses...

Canon A5510 A520 A95 A85 A80 A75 A70 A60 Test Review © 2005 KenRockwell.com

Just buy an A520 or A510 now! They give the same image quality as my $4,000 Nikon D1H did, run twice as long on a charge and fits in my pocket. I see little to no difference in image quality between these and 5 megapixel cameras that cost over twice as...

Expert Review

Inmy opinion, oneof the most exciting cameras introduced at PMA wasn't a digitalSLR or loaded with pixels. Rather, it's a camera for therest of the world, the folks who are really moving the digitalcamera market forward.

Very good photo quality, Robust performance, Has an AF illuminator lamp, Lots of manual controls for a cheap camera (in other words, it's a great value), Impressive movie, playback modes, Great software package

Redeye, Details in images a little too soft; purple fringing occasionally a problem, No diopter correction knob, No histogram in record or playback mode, Bundle could be better (aside from software)
