Canon PowerShot S110 review

Canon's PowerShot S series has previously consisted of compact cameras for enthusiasts, but the PowerShot S110 is less so, despite its fast-ish lens, support for raw format, and manual exposure controls. Canon made a few changes in its replacement for...

The Canon PowerShot S110 has better autofocus than its predecessor while maintaining good-to-excellent photo quality.

A not-very-impressive implementation of the new wireless connectivity features and still-sluggish image processing weigh down the camera.

Nice photo quality, improved autofocus performance, and a very compact design make the Canon PowerShot S110 a solid option if you're looking for something between a point-and-shoot and an enthusiast compact. But if you can find them cheaper, the S100...

Canon PowerShot S110

The compact, sharp-shooting Canon PowerShot S110 is very similar to its Editors' Choice-winning predecessor, but it's no longer the class leader.

Sharp lens. Good quality at high ISOs. Speedy performance. Integrated Wi-Fi. Raw shooting support.

Expensive. No GPS. Lacks hot shoe or EVF option. 1080p video limited to 24fps. Wireless setup can be difficult.

While it's neat that the camera can do it, the Wi-Fi transfer is impractically slow—it took about eight minutes to transfer 20 files from the camera to my PC, and the Wi-Fi puts an excessive strain on the S110's battery. It's fine to beam an image or...

Canon PowerShot S110 (Digital IXUS v)

Canon have taken the popular Digital IXUS and added a"v" for video. The Digital IXUS v (known as the S110 DigitalElph in the US and IXY Digital 200 in Japan) builds on the original DigitalIXUS platform by firsty adding the ability to take short movie...

Good resolution, fairly sharp images, hardly any chromatic aberrations ; White balance works well enough, presets are very good ; Ultra-compact size, light weight ; Sleek stainless steel body, stylish looks ; Superb build quality ; Very quick...

Lens distortion / softness near edges ; Blues are dull ; Average macro ability ; Flash doesn't have the power or the cover wide angle shots ; Edge positioned tripod mount (at least it's metal!) ; Limited zoom (35 - 70 mm) ; Auto White balance doesn't...

The IXUS v is ultimately pocketable, it's tiny proportionsdisguise it's ability to produce excellent photographs. The Digital IXUSdesign is so small it's almost impossible to tell it apart from one ofthe equally tiny IXUS APS cameras. This camera, just...
