Canon PowerShot SX210 IS

The Canon PowerShot SX210 is a no-nonsense camera that packs a long 14x optical-zoom lens into a small body. But this camera doesn't excel in low light, and images show some color fringing.

Sharp images. 14x optical zoom. 3-inch LCD is easily viewable in direct sunlight, and shows virtually no motion blur. Well-designed interface. Mini-HDMI port. Stereo audio recording in video mode.

Images show noticeable color fringing. Not suited for low light shooting without a flash. LCD's 16:9 aspect ratio means black bars around 4:3 images.

Canon PowerShot SX210 IS

Offering the holy trinity of ease of use, manual controls, and best-in-class video quality, the 14X-optical-zoom PowerShot SX210 IS ($350 as of June 1, 2010) is a follow-up to last year's excellent PowerShot SX200 IS. Improvements include a slimmer...

Great blend of fun features and manual controls ; Zoom toggle gives good control over 14X zoom lens ; Innovative design feels good in the hand ; Superior video quality

Subpar audio capture in video mode ; Plastic zoom toggle takes some getting used to

The slick, slimmed-down follow-up to Canon's SX200 IS offers a near-perfect blend of manual controls and creative scene modes, and its video capture is stunning.

Canon Powershot SX210 review:

A long zoom in a little body seems to be the big goal for camera manufacturers in 2010. The 14-megapixel PowerShot SX210 IS is Canon's entry; it's the company's most compact megazoom camera sporting a 28mm-equivalent wide-angle lens with a 14x zoom. It...

Nice selection of semimanual and manual controls; flexible lens in a compact body; very good photo quality.

Slow shooting performance; some awkward design aspects; unimpressive LCD.

If you want a compact megazoom with manual controls and fine photo quality, the Canon PowerShot SX210 IS is a good place to start.

Canon PowerShot SX210 IS Review

The PowerShot SX210 IS camera is the second travel-zoom model from Canon, taking on the likes of the Panasonic DMC-TZ10, Nikon Coolpix S8000 and the Samsung WB550. There's a 14x, 28-392mm optical zoom lens with built-in image stabilizer, 14 megapixel...

Viewed as a competent all-in-one option for both photos and video - and thus the only camera many families may ever need - what initially appears a premium price for the SX210 IS begins to make more sense. And, once you've become used to a camera with...

Canon PowerShot SX210 IS

The Canon SX210 IS can be had in a number of different skins, including the 'look at me purple' seen here

Though the SX210 has some issues, its zoom and photo capture abilities make an appealing case.

PowerShot SX210 IS

As you can see, both the resolution and optical zoom got bumped up on the SX210. The camera's movie mode has also been enhanced, with improve image stabilization, stereo sound recording, and yes, use of the optical zoom. The SX210 also sports a...

Good photo quality at lower ISOs ; 14X optical zoom in a relatively compact body ; Optical image stabilization, with an extra-strength "dynamic mode" for movies ; Widescreen LCD display is great for HD movie recording; good low light visibility ;...

Photos a bit noisy, even at base ISO; things get soft when you pass ISO 400 ; Strong purple fringing at times ; Redeye a problem, though it can be removed in-camera ; Ergonomic annoyances: pop-up flash comes up automatically (but at least you can close...

The PowerShot SX210 IS sounds like quite the travel camera when you look at the specs. It has a compact body, big zoom lens, large LCD, plenty of bells and whistles, and a 720p movie mode. Unfortunately, it also has frustrating ergonomics, a weak...

Canon PowerShot SX210 IS Review

There are plenty of reasons to justify spending an extra $20 on the PowerShot SX210 over the SX200. If you're shooting in great conditions, you won't have a problem snapping clean shots at the top end of the camera's generous 14x zoom range. The camera...

Review: Canon PowerShot SX210 IS compact camera

The slick, slimmed-down follow up to Canon's SX200 IS offers a near-perfect blend of manual controls and creative scene modes, and its video capture is stunning.

The SX210 IS also produced noticeably better video quality than any of the other pocket megazooms in our test batch, posting a video-quality score of Superior. In contrast, audio capture was a weak spot; the camera has no mic-in port, so you're stuck...

Canon PowerShot SX210 – Flexible lens in a compact body

Thin seems to be in and hence there are a lot of manufacturer trying to put a long zoom in a compact body for camera. This model is a similar type of camera which has a 28mm equivalent wide angle lens along with 14x zoom. This is a follow up to the...

Good options for manual and semimanual controls, good compact body containing flexible lens, photo quality is commendable

Shooting performance is slow, LCD is unimpressive, some issues with design

We will recommend you this camera if you are looking for a megazoom lens in a compact body.
