For birds, buildings or whatever's near or far -- very, very far -- the SX60 HS and its 65x zoom lens get it done.

The Canon PowerShot SX60 HS is an all-around excellent bridge camera with a competitive zoom range, features that make it easier to use and make use of the lens and solid photo and video quality for its class.

Like most cameras in this category, the SX60 can be slow to lock focus when fully zoomed in under certain conditions. Switching between the viewfinder and display is still frustrating and there's no proximity sensor to automatically trigger the change...

In September 2012, Canon launched the PowerShot SX50 HS , a bridge camera with a 50x, f3.4-6.5, 24-1,200mm zoom lens -- an unheard of zoom range at the time.

The Canon PowerShot SX60 HS is an all-around excellent bridge camera with a competitive zoom range, features that make it easier to use and make use of the lens and solid photo and video quality for its class.

Like most cameras in this category, the SX60 can be slow to lock focus when fully zoomed in under certain conditions. Switching between the viewfinder and display is still frustrating and there's no proximity sensor to automatically trigger the change...

The Canon PowerShot SX60 HS has a lens that covers an extreme zoom range, and even though it's on the pricey side, it earns our Editors' Choice award.

65x zoom lens. 21mm wide-angle coverage. Sharp vari-angle LCD. Integrated EVF and hot shoe. 6.3fps continuous shooting. Great control layout. Framing assist function. Raw shooting support. Wi-Fi. 1080p60 video. Mic input.

Pricey. Lacks EVF eye sensor.

Finally, remote control from your phone or tablet is possible. Controls are limited—you can zoom the lens, set the self-timer, control the flash ouput, and fire the shutter, but that's it. There's no way to select a focus point, or to control other...
