Casio Exilim G EX-G1 review

Casio's Exilim G EX-G1 camera made a solid enough first impression with us when we got our hands on it in January, but we've now had a chance to use it a

Stylish, eye-catching design ; More compact than other rugged cameras ; Stands up against the elements

Mediocre photo and video quality ; No lens cover ; Tricky to remove battery

Casio Exilim G EX-G1

The Casio Exilim G EX-G1 offers a ruggedized build in a surprisingly slim, compact body, but image quality isn't this shooter's strong suit.

Low price for a ruggedized camera. Thin, attractive build. Waterproof up to 10 feet. Can survive drops up to 7 feet. Can operate in temperatures as low as 14ºF

Soft images. No protective lens cover. Slow recycle times between shots. Dated user interface.

Casio Exilim EX-G1

Snowboarders, snorkelers, and rock climbers, listen up: The ruggedized Casio Exilim EX-G1 point-and-shoot digital camera is a worthy companion for your next outdoor adventure. That's assuming, of course, you don't snowboard in weather colder than 14...

Practically no shutter lag for one-off shots ; Withstands drops, water, and cold temperatures

Takes MicroSD/MicroSDHC cards rather than SD/SDHC ; Hard to operate with big hands or gloves ; Very slow shot-to-shot lag

The Casio Exilim EX-G1 is certainly rugged--but you're paying more for durability, not great images.

Casio Exilim EX-G1 review

The Casio Exilim EX-G1 costs about $300, and it's clear that most of that cost is for its ruggedized body, which allows you to take photos and video where you can't use a regular camera. The ultracompact 12-megapixel camera can withstand a 7-foot drop...

Rugged construction; low shutter lag.

Photo quality is merely OK; long shot-to-shot times; slightly over-designed.

The Casio Exilim EX-G1 is a good snapshot camera built to take a beating, but its photos and shooting features are nothing special.

Casio Exilim EX-G1 Review

Casio has unleashed its "tough-man", a rugged, take anywhere, compact model known modestly as the G1. This tough looking camera is ready for any adventure and according to Casio it can take a licking and keep on clicking. Casio claims that the new G1...

Casio EX-G1 Review

The Casio EX-G1 is the latest tough camera on the block, the first such model from Casio, and currently the World's slimmest shock-resistant, waterproof, dustproof digital camera. Measuring just 0.78-inch thick, the all-action EX-G1 can be used at...

Casio's Exilim camera range, like its digital watches, has always valued style as highly as actual substance. And here, with the EX-G1, the manufacturer is in danger of leaning too heavily toward the former at the latter's expense. Its near...

Review: Casio Exilim EX-G1 camera

The Casio Exilim EX-G1 is certainly rugged--but you're paying more for durability, not great images.

Taking the battery out, on the other hand, is quite a hassle—especially if you have big hands. Casio includes a special tool for prying open the battery compartment; but even with said tool, the compartment requires some dexterity to open

Casio EX-G1

The Casio Exilim EX-G1 is both beauty and the beast: it's a small, thin camera that can fit into a pocket, but also one that can shoot in extreme conditions. But while this camera can take a lickin', but keep on clickin', we were not that impressed...

The EX-G1 is a small camera, at just 0.78 inches thick. It fits well into the hand, with a small raised ridge on the front giving something to hold onto. And the camera certainly feels tough, as it can cope with water to a depth of 33 feet,...
