Casio Exilim EX-Z77 Review

I had high expectations for the Exilim EX-Z77, but was let down in too many ways to justify a recommendation.

Casio Exilim EX-Z77 review

Casio inches its Exilim Zoom series forward with the EX-Z77, a minor upgrade to the Exilim EX-Z75 . The Z77 maintains most of its predecessor's hardware aspects, but features a new image processor and a few other new features.

Fast performance; accessible interface; handy YouTube uploader included.

Poor picture quality; grainy LCD screen.

The Casio Exilim EX-Z77 has some neat features and feels responsive, but its poor photos simply can't be overlooked.

Stylish 7.2-megapixel camera for the YouTube generation

For several years, Casio has been sort of the sleeper hit among digital cameras, with products that are consistently attractive, innovative and ahead of the curve. That is quite an accomplishment for a diverse company whose core business is in...

Crisp, logical design, layout and menus, H.264 movie recording for small size at good quality, Advanced face detection modes, Over 40 scene modes, You can get it in four colors, Superior movie modes, including past movie, Speedy operation and good...

Casio Exilim Zoom EX-Z77 Review and Prices

Casio's Exilim Zoom EX-Z77 provides only basic features and functions for beginning photographers, but it offers two key components for an ultra-compact digital camera: A very low suggested price ($179) and an extremely thin camera body (0.78 inches)....

Low starting price, four body colors available, very good response times, good image quality, very thin camera body, easy to use, interesting video options

Some will find camera difficult to hold, internal memory is too small, no optical viewfinder, LCD could be sharper

Casio Exilim EX-Z77 Review

In the interest of full disclosure, I should mention that I haven't used a camera this small since the Kodak Disc Camera I owned back in the early 1980s. I think the Casio EX-Z77 is actually a bit smaller. However, the comparison ends there. We've come...

Very small and lightweight - perfect for carrying in a pocket or small purse, 7.2-megapixel resolution for excellent prints to 8×10, Extensive menu settings and "Best Shot" exposure modes, "Easy Mode" for pure point-and-shoot photography, Built-in...

LCD quick-review makes photos you've just taken look blurry, Image quality suffers in poor lighting conditions, Battery charger has a long, awkward cord

The Casio Exilim EX-Z77 has some of the best features and performance available for a digital camera its size and price. It is so small you can easily take it anywhere. Its 7.2 megapixels of resolution will make excellent prints up to at least 8×10 and...

Casio Exilim EX-Z77 review

Casio tends to make pretty minor changes to their camera models throughout the year and the Casio Exilim EX-Z77 is no exception.  Its hardware is more or less identical to the previous Z75 - 7.1 megapixel resolution, 3x optical zoom, and 2.6 inch LCD. ...

Casio Exilim Zoom EX Z77 digital camera

The new Exilim EX Z77 sits snuggly in Casio's Exilim line up above the EX Z75 and beneath the EX Z1050 so it is in the upper echelon of the mid-range models. The £149.99 pricing makes it look attractive, as does a couple of neat new features, which...

Build and slim line design, low ISO image quality, easy to use, improved H.264 movie format, and YouTube movie mode

Hi ISO image noise, low-powered flash unit, no optical viewfinder, very limited manual control

While the Casio Exilim EX Z77 is a mid-range model, it has a few classy features that make it look attractive. Better than average image quality help too and the improved face priority AF set up is uncanny.
