Fujifilm X-E2

The Fujifilm X-E2 adds Wi-Fi and improves upon the X-E1's video capabilities, but it can't keep up with our Editors' Choice in focus or burst shooting speed.

Excellent high ISO images. 7fps continuous shooting. Sharp OLED EVF. Excellent control system. Integrated flash. Wi-Fi. 1080p60 video with mic input.

A little slow to focus. Integrated Wi-Fi doesn't support NFC. Raw capture limited to ISO 6400. Pricey.

The electronic viewfinder is nothing short of excellent. It's an OLED design, just like the one in the Sony Alpha 6000, but betters the Sony's 1,440k-dot resolution; the X-E2 EVF packs 2,359k-dots into a half-inch space. It delivers a very smooth field...

This interchangeable lens camera features a design reminiscent of Leica cameras.

Eye-level viewfinder ; Rangefinder-like controls ; Build quality ; Excellent image quality

Lacks optical low-pass filter ; No dedicated shooting mode wheel

The X-E2 is a camera that will please the avid photographer, with its throwback-yet-modern design and stellar image quality.

Fujifilm X-E2 Review

The X-E2 is the mid-range model in Fujifilm's X system of mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras, sitting between the relatively affordable X-M1 and X-A1 twins, and the unashamedly high-end X-Pro1 and X-T1. It's an update of the X-E1, which we liked a...

The X-E2 is an interesting camera - its shape and reliance on more traditional, dedicated external controls means it probably isn't going to make a big dent in sales of mid-range Canon and Nikons. There may not be a huge theoretical difference between...

Fujifilm X-E2 Body Only, Silver

The result is a camera that's generally better than its predecessor and great fun to use, but not necessarily a clear-cut buy once you lay out all the pros and cons.

The Fujifilm X-E2 delivers the same excellent photo quality as the X-E1, with a more streamlined design and slightly better performance.

It's still not terribly fast, especially for action, and the feature set remains relatively average. Plus you really don't want to use it for shooting video unless you're very careful about frame rates.

It delivers great images and is still fun to shoot with, but the Fujifilm X-E2 isn't a no-brainer upgrade over the X-E1 and other cameras outfeature it.

Fujifilm X-E2: Faster and better-designed

You either pick up the X-E2 and fall in love with it and its photos, or you pass.

Fujifilm X-E2 Review

The Fujifilm X-E2 is a new compact system camera that offers a number of significant improvements on its predecessor, the X-E1. At the heart of the X-E2 is a new 16.3 megapixel APS-C sized X-Trans CMOS II sensor, which has a colour filter array that...

Fujifilm X-E2 Review

Succeeding the Fujifilm X-E1 mirrorless compact system camera -- a model that we fell in love with last year -- comes the Fuji X-E2, which boasts the next generation of the company's award-winning X-Trans sensor technology and a host of other upgrades....

Bottom Line. The X-E2 builds on what’s becoming a solid tradition for Fujifilm, delivering exceptional image quality (thanks to their unique X-Trans sensor technology) and enthusiast-level features at an appealing price. This is also a camera where...
