Fujifilm X20

The Fujifilm X20 premium compact camera is a great choice for those who demand an optical viewfinder, but it can't keep up with the Sony DSC-RX100 in low light.

Large optical viewfinder. Manual zoom design. Sharp images. Fast, 4x zoom lens. Lots of physical controls. Fast burst shooting. 1-centimeter macro mode. Hot shoe.

Pricey. A little bulky. Rear LCD could be sharper.

The rear LCD itself is 2.8 inches in size, but only boasts a 460k-dot resolution. It's quite bright, so you won't have any problem using it on a bright day—you can always switch to the optical viewfinder under harsh, direct sunlight. But the LCD isn't...

Fujifilm X20 finds its niche

It's a compact camera predominantly designed around the experience of taking photos. Why not?

A new sensor lets the ; deliver better photo quality than its predecessor, and tweaks to the design improve the shooting experience significantly.

The lens-twist-to-turn-on is getting old fast, and the feature set provides just the basics. Plus the video quality disappoints.

The Fujifiilm X20 is a great choice for people looking for a well-designed photographer's camera, but the basic feature set and disappointing video might not be for everyone.

But while the X20's image quality is much better than the X10's, it's still only about the same as its competitors'. On the other hand, enhancements to the design and interface, including a settings overlay in the viewfinder and a quick control panel,...

Fujifilm X20 Review

The enthusiast compact sector has undergone a distinct revival in recent years, with every major manufacturer now producing a model or two that offers full manual control and Raw recording, aimed as a second camera for enthusiasts who usually carry an...

Very good photo quality; noticeably sharper than X10 Fast, 28-112mm equiv. F2.0-2.8 zoom lens with manual zoom ring Solid build quality with retro design Large optical viewfinder offers exposure data and focus point overlay Wide selection of manual...

Tends to smudge fine details (even at ISO 100) Clips highlights at default DR setting (though no worse than its peers) Optical viewfinder doesn't live up to its potential (no composition grid, grid lines); lens can be seen through viewfinder at...

The Fujifilm X20 takes what made the X10 that came before it a hit - namely its well-built, retro-styled body, fast lens, and full suite of manual controls - and adds an improved sensor and AF system. The result is a camera that is generally a pleasure...

Feed your creativity with the Fujifilm X20 compact camera

Even though it has plenty of “auto everything” modes, the more you know about photography, the more you can get out of the Fujifilm X20.

Beautifully machined camera that feels durable and precise ; Excellent image quality ; Fast f/2-2.8 zoom lens ; Full complement of manual controls and custom settings ; Excellent creative options to craft a variety of different looks ; High quality...

Buffer can be slow to purge creating short delays in viewing pictures ; Low battery warning doesn't really provide much warning ; 460K dot LCD should have more resolution for a camera in this class ; Image noise begins to appear above ISO 800 ; No...

If you’re a street shooter, set the X20 to B&W mode and marvel at how it quietly captures activity without drawing attention to itself. Even though it has plenty of “auto everything” modes, the more you know about photography, the more you can get out...

The Fujifilm X20 is an advanced compact with a 28-112mm equivalent zoom and a larger sensor than a typical point-and shoot camera. Launched in June 2013, it replaces the Fujifilm X10 with an upgraded sensor that may have the same 12 Megapixel...

2/3 inch X-Trans sensor ; Fast hybrid AF with on-sensor phase detect points ; Advanced optical viewfinder with LCD overlay ; 360 degree Motion Panorama mode ; Focus peaking
