Fujifilm XF10 review

The Fujifilm XF10 is a stylish, compact, well-priced pocket camera that will take great photographs. Unfortunately, the XF10's overall performance may be a let-down, including for those users coming from smartphone cameras.

Fujifilm XF10

The Fujifilm XF10 is a gorgeous compact camera that squeezes SLR image quality into a pocket-friendly size.

Gorgeous, pocket-friendly design. APS-C image sensor. Wide-angle f/2.8 prime lens. Sharp images. Touch screen. Wi-Fi.

Middling autofocus speed. Long start-up time. No optical image stabilization. Omits EVF and hot shoe. So-so video.

Bottom Line: The Fujifilm XF10 is a gorgeous compact camera that squeezes SLR image quality into a pocket-friendly size.

Fujifilm XF10 is the cheapest APS-C compact yet

At $500 it's less expensive than many smaller-sensor competitors. But it's got a relatively slim feature set in comparison, too.

Fujifilm XF10

The all-new Fujifilm XF10 is a pocket-sized 18mm f/2.8 fixed lens premium compact camera with a 24.2 Megapixel APS-C sensor that only weighs 280 grams. Perfect for street photographers, it looks surprisingly like the much-beloved (and now out-of-date)...

The new Fujifilm XF10 is a largely successful attempt to woo both smartphone upgraders and serious enthusiasts, ultimately satisfying both camps thanks to the combination of excellent image quality and diminutive size. The pairing of an APS-C sensor...

Fujifilm XF10 review

A tiny camera with mighty ambitions

Very good image quality ; Small and robust body ; In-camera raw processing ; Touchscreen works very well ; USB charging is handy

4K video disappoints ; No image stabilisation ; Sluggish autofocus ; Slight lagging in operation ; Frequent overexposure

Not many cameras manage to squeeze an APS-C sensor inside a genuinely pocketable body, and the fact that the XF10 does so at this price only maximises its appeal. The AF system is a bit of a let-down, though, as it video quality in 4K.

Fujifilm XF10 review: Ailing autofocus affects fixed-lens camera's appeal

Image quality from that huge sensor is often excellent ; Small scale makes it genuinely pocketable

Sloppy autofocus system frequently hunts and fails to focus ; Poor close-up focus for sharpness

The large lens and wide aperture have the potential to deliver delightful images, but the noisy and poor autofocus often makes it a struggle to get there.
