General Electric X400

 

The GE X400 won't slide into your pocket, but it does deliver a 15x zoom lens, a sturdy build, and nice images in good light—all for a very, very modest asking price.

Inexpensive. Sharp lens. 15x zoom. Sturdy construction. Ample physical controls.

Bulky. Long shutter lag. Slow to start and shoot. Uses AA batteries. Smaller, low-res LCD. No HD video support.

Performance and Conclusions The X400 isn't fast—it's not excruciatingly slow, but requires 3.4 seconds to start and shoot, records a lengthy 0.9-second shutter lag, and makes you wait about a half second between photos. It isn't atypical for a camera...

Great Cam for the ~$50 I spent on it.

 

Don't bother with digital zoom. You might as well get a regular non-digitally-zoomed pic and crop it on the computer (or other device) later. Pretty much the same blasted thing. That goes for every digital camera I've ever used, & I'd say ever made, so...

GREAT looking photos ; LOTS of good features ; Good flash (love the pop-up thing) ; LOVE the Lens Cover (lens is pretty sweet too) ; 15x optical zoom? Heck yes

Takes some T&E learning. (that's trial & error) ; Especially since there's no real manual ; I've had mine since the beginning of July 2013, & It's still my Go-To camera for most things, but I'm noticing that the twist switch is kinda temperamental when...
