Kodak EasyShare DX7590

This is a good camera that's easy to use and takes appealing pictures.

Solid and easy to use. Images show vibrant, appealing colors. Schneider-Kreuznach Variogon 10X optical zoom lens. Large, bright LCD automatically adjusts to lighting conditions. Kodak's EasyShare system makes sharing photos simple. On-screen...

No image-stabilization abilities. Images can be noisy and a bit soft.

Kodak DX7590 Review

Almost a year after Kodak announced its first 10x zoom camera, the DX6490, in August this year it announced its new flagship digital camera and second 10x zoom model, the 5 megapixel EasyShare DX7590. The SLR-styled camera boasts a Schneider-Kreuznach...

Nice color, generally very good exposure Versatile 38-380mm zoom range Very compact Good handling Good flash performance Good white balance in most situations Large, bright LCD screen High resolution EVF Both screen and EVF work well in low light...

Not very high resolution - lack of fine detail Slightly soft images Over-aggressive noise reduction at ISO 160+ Some problems with high contrast/wide dynamic range scenes Occasional exposure problems Lack of image stabilisation limits use of long end...

The DX7590 is a camera that rewards those prepared to take the time to learn how to use all its functions and to work around its foibles - you start getting better and better pictures the more you use it. Quite how this fits in with the 'EasyShare'...

Kodak EasyShare DX review

Kodak EasyShare DX7590 The Kodak EasyShare DX7590 looks great on paper: it has a 10X optical zoom, a 5-megapixel resolution, an SLR-like electronic viewfinder, and manual exposure controls. Unfortunately, its photos tell a different story. A variety of...

10X zoom; manual exposure controls; easy operation; versatile burst mode; solid battery life; connection for external flash.

Image quality merely acceptable; LCD and EVF ghosting.

If you don't mind just average photos, the DX7590 will appeal to snapshooters looking for more control.

Digital Cameras - Kodak EasyShare DX7590 Digital Camera Review, Information, Specifications

Kodak's EasyShare digital cameras are consistently among the easiest to use of any I test, and the DX7590 certainly holds true to form. Its fully automatic exposure control performs very well under a variety of conditions, and the range of manual...

Built into the DX7590 is a 10x zoom lens, equivalent to a 38-380mm zoom on a 35mm camera, with accessory threads on the body ring for attaching an adapter for accessory conversion lenses and filters. The camera's autofocus mechanism uses a multi-zone...

Is the DX7590 a worthy upgrade of its excellent predecessor? Find out in our review

Very good photo quality ; Large LCD, sharp EVF ; LCD and EVF usable in low light ; Many manual controls ; Flash sync port for external flash ; Supports conversion lenses ; Hybrid AF system for low light focusing ; EasyShare system makes it very easy to...

Details in photos can look muddy, overprocessed; photos tend to be soft, as well ; No manual white balance or manual focus ; Image stabilization would be nice ; VGA movie mode, while nice, has a sluggish frame rate

I recommend the DX7590 for anyone looking for an ultra zoom camera that's got features that enthusiasts demand and ease-of-use for the rest of us. I'd rank it at the top of my best ultra zoom camera, list along with the Olympus C-765/770 and Panasonic...

Kodak EasyShare DX7590; Big 10x Zoom With 5-Megapixel Res

Having a 350mm optical zoom tele lens sure helps when photographing wildlife.

The camera does let you customize settings, including focusing targets (multi, center, left, center or right), ISO (the native 80-160 auto plus 100, 200, and 400, with 800 getting you a low resolution of 1.8 megapixel), flash and exposure compensation....

Kodak EasyShare DX 7590

The Kodak DX7590 is the update of the DX6490 launched last year and the most obvious change from the model it replaces is the extra million pixels: the resolution has been bumped to 5MP.

Good metering and colour capture, the 38-380mm 10x zoom Schneider-Kreuznach Variogon lens, it’s easy to use with good specification.

Noisy images in shadow areas or low light and image compression removes detail

For anyone requiring a simple to use camera with room to advance requiring ‘normal' sized prints, the Kodak EasyShare DX 7590 may just be ideal. It is a cinch to use, the more advanced user will find it offers them plenty of extra photo tools and while...
