Kodak Easyshare V603 reviewed

We're liking the looks of this Easyshare V603 6.1 megapixel shooter from Kodak, but just because Kodak makes it sexy doesn't mean the pictures will turn out -- as their V570 so completely evidenced. Luckily, the V603 seems to have pics as well as...

Kodak EasyShare V603 review

main content Essentially a 6-megapixel version of the EasyShare V550 , Kodak's EasyShare V603 shares the same black-and-silver styling; the same 3X optical, 36mm-to-108mm, f/2.8-to-f/4.8 zoom lens; and the same 2.5-inch LCD as its sibling. Fans of tiny...

Sleek attractive design; decent selection of scene modes; speedy burst mode.

Few manual controls; no manual white balance; no image stabilization; no dock.

Snapshooters looking for a small, stylish camera without any fancy controls will likely be pleased with Kodak's EasyShare V603.

Kodak EasyShare V603 Digital Camera - Full Review

The Kodak EasyShare V603's smooth, sleek body contains a six-megapixel CCD imager and a Schneider-Kreuznach C-Variogon-branded 3x optical zoom lens with a fairly standard 36 to 108mm equivalent focal range. For framing images, the V603 forgoes any form...

Well presented Scene modes ; Automatic in-camera panorama stitching ; Automatic in-camera still enhancement with Perfect Touch ; Vibrant, appealing color ; Good skin tones ; Auto white balance handles a wide range of lighting well ; Better than average...

Only average speed from shot to shot ; A little slow to clear the buffer memory, and very slow shot-to-shot after buffer fills (six large/fine shots) ; Only average shutter response at telephoto focal lengths ; High ISO shots are quite soft, ISO 400...

Images and movies captured on the Kodak V603 are transferred to your computer over a USB 2.0 Full Speed connection, rather slower than the USB 2.0 High Speed connections offered on many cameras these days. Power comes from a proprietary Lithium Ion...

Kodak EasyShare V603 Digital Camera Review

It fits in your pocket (comes in black, red or silver), it is light weight and easy to use, therefore a nice compact point and shoot digital camera. A few improvements from V550 are the better buttons which are easier to press, viewfinder was...

The Kodak Easyshare V603 is a recent addition to their ultra compact and stylish V series.

Good image quality ; Quick operation ; Easy to use ; Good movie mode

Tendency to overexpose images ; Flash is a bit underpowered

Kodak EasyShare V603

The EasyShare V603 is simply a basic point-and-shoot camera, but it could have done better with some design changes.

Feather-light weight ; Wide selection of scene modes ; Responsive shooter

Slot for memory card has no cover ; Tiny buttons ; No manual controls

We also noticed slight barrel distortion at the wide end of the zoom. However, we liked the Backlight setting in the scene modes which reduced flaring in our pictures.
