Kodak EasyShare Z650 review

You'd expect Kodak to cut some corners with its budget-conscious superzoom, the EasyShare Z650, and you'd be right. Unlike the more expensive Kodak EasyShare Z612 , which includes a 12X optical zoom lens with optical image stabilization, the EasyShare...

Full manual exposure controls; 10X optical zoom.

No image stabilization; noticeable fringing and artifacts; ISO 800 not available at full resolution; no manual white balance or focus; choppy video.

This budget superzoom's price will garner interest, but the Kodak EasyShare Z650's performance and image quality will ward off enthusiasts.

When Kodak launched it's first 'SLR-like' super zoom, the DX6490, back in 2003 it was entering a much less crowded marketplace, and one where it held an ace up its sleeve; a highly competitive price point (and, to be fair, a comprehensive feature...

Kodak EasyShare Z650

The Kodak EasyShare Z650 is an ultra-zoom digital camera with 6.1 megapixels and an SLR-like shape. This is less resolution than offered by most recent cameras and its 10x optical zoom lens is shorter than many current models, too. Still, the Z650 is...

Kodak Easyshare Z650 Review

If it was not for a few innovative ultra-zoom cameras, such as the , the Kodak Easyshare Z650 would be among the smallest. Except for a few buttons which can be accidentally pressed, the Z650's body is well-designed and very easy to hold.

Nicely saturated colors, Accurate focus and exposure, Very little optical distortion, Powerful flash, Mostly good ergonomics, Above average battery life, Nice LCD visibility in low-light

White balance problems under fluorescent light, Strong chromatic aberrations near wide-angle, Slight vignetting at telephoto end, Generally slow performance, Very soft ISO 400 setting, Flash pops up when powering on, LCD difficult to see in bright light
