Konica Minolta DiMage Z3

For handheld shooting of sports and nature subjects, the Z3's 12X optical zoom lens and antishake feature will come in very handy.

A 12X optical zoom lens with antishake technology makes it easy to get close to distant subjects. Excellent real-time histogram. Easy-to-use exposure compensation.

Our test daylight pictures exhibit a strong orange shift. Flash shots were underexposed, dull, muddy, and noisy. Relatively slow boot and recycle times. No recharger or rechargeable batteries included.

Digital Cameras - Konica Minolta DiMAGE Z3 Digital Camera Review, Information, Specifications

The original DiMAGE Z1 was clearly one of the best long-zoom digicam bargains on the market, a fact that no doubt contributed to its being one of the most popular cameras on the entire IR site during its release year. When the Z2 came along, it...

Sleek but solid design ; Large 3-inch LCD display with okay resolution and extra-wide viewing angle ; Relatively lightweight ; Good speed for a consumer camera with very little shutter lag when you pre-focus ; Helpful HP Real Life technologies include...

Image quality not up to snuff for a camera with an 8.2 megapixel sensor ; Lens produced images with overall softness and noticeable barrel distortion at the wide-angle ; Images looked flat and lacked crisp color and dynamic range ; Caucasian skin tones...

Solid black body with blue Konica Minolta logo and silver wording on front of flash housing. DC In port moved to USB compartment, and SD card slot moved to bottom panel. Oblong shutter button with decorative raised element extending down front of handgrip

Konica Minolta DiMAGE Z3

The ultra zoom camera market is quite crowded these days. How does the Z3 compare? Find out in our review

12X optical zoom lens ; Anti-shake image stabilizer ; Blazing AF performance in good light ; Full manual controls ; Supports wide-angle conversion lens and external flash ; EVF and LCD "gain up" in low light ; Good redeye test performance ; Excellent...

Images seemed soft and noisy ; Poor low light focusing; no AF-assist lamp ; Lens is on the "slow" side ; EVF and LCD are small, low resolution ; Plastic body scratches easily; SD card slot cover ready to break off at any moment ; Camera bundle is not...

Though it's not the best ultra zoom camera, the many positives of the Z3 outweigh the negatives, and the camera earns my recommendation. Despite the noise and softness, images downsized or printed at smaller sizes will look fine. Those who make big...

Konica Minolta DiMAGE Z3 Digital Camera Review

The DiMAGE Z3 is the first ultra zoom camera Konica Minolta to use their exclusive Anti-shake image stabilization system which is very much needed on a ultra zoom camera. Two nice things about Minolta Z3 are the fact it uses AA batteries (better...

KONICA MINOLTA DIMAGE Z3

This month I was given the opportunity to test and play with the new Konica Minolta DiMAGE Z3 digital camera, successor to the DiMAGE Z2 model we reviewed earlier in 2004. I had a great experience with the Z2 model and the Z3 model doesn't disappoint...

This camera is not too different from the Z2 model; it does deliver a fair bit of purple fringe but the pink hue distortion that I saw in the Z2 does appear to be corrected.

The Konica Minolta DiMAGE Z3 is a good ultra zoom camera that could be better. Panasonic still has the lead in this market, in my opinion. The Z3 has a 12X optical zoom lens, which is as big as they come. It's not as "fast" as the lenses on Panasonic's...

Konica Minolta DiMAGE Z3; First Z-Series Digicam With IS Plus New High Tech Features

Most digital cameras include a 3x optical zoom lens, generally with a focal length no longer than a 120mm equivalent for a modest telephoto effect as in image A.

Highly effective Anti-Shake system compensates for camera shake. • Superb and powerful lens ; Through The Lens viewing and data readouts with EVF. • Great versatility with numerous easy to use features ; accepts accessory HS(D) and (D) series flash...

Focus acquisition remains reliable in low light, but is not as quick ; Overexposes mid-tone subjects slightly in bright light ; Some JPEG artifacts visible at 100 percent magnification ; obvious digital noise at ISO 400 ; purple fringing (chromatic...

Konica Minolta's proprietary CxProcess II technology allows for very fast image processing. Using a high-speed SanDisk ULTRA card, I was able to shoot six full resolution JPEGs in 2.5 seconds before a pause to allow the buffer (temporary storage bank)...

Digital Camera

If youre interested in a unique camera with a tremendous optical zoom and lots of good, common-sense features, and can live with the relatively bulky body a big optical zoom lens necessitates, Minoltas DiMAGE Z series will almost certainly be of...

If you want the big 12X zoom and the terrific anti-shake feature of the Z3 but canât quite figure out why it has to come in a 4-megapixel package that, depending where you get it, costs more than the lesser DiMAGE Z20, the new DiMAGE Z5 is for you. It...

Konica Minolta DiMAGE Z3

If you're after a digital camera that will allow you to catch the action from afar, then the Z3 hopes to do just the job, but can a digital camera with built in optical lens really bring those far away objects up close? We took it down to the London...

Unusual, ergonomic, but great chopped in half ‘Star Wars Tie Fighter’ design, the 34-420mm 12x optical zoom lens, great image quality and good manual features.

Some noise at higher ISO settings, restricted 640x480 video clips.

Although the design is akin to a chopped off Tie Fighter from the Star Wars movies, it's great to hold and the camera is easy to use. Metering, image quality and Anti Shake work well and provide an all-round excellent package from Konica Minolta...
