Exceeded my expectations

For the money, this camera is magnificent. After reading a number of negative reviews, I was very skeptical about my purchase. However, I found that the firmware update (now included out of the box) nearly eliminated the shutter lag problems and...

Excellent performance in good lighting ; Wonderful macro performance ; Lens/CCD-based Anti-Shake technology really works! Pictures taken without a flash typically are not debilitated by blurring ; Stylish and sturdy design ; Useful cradle...

Slow AF, especially in low light, due to the lack of an AF lamp ; Focusing issues in low light ; Performance is still slower than competing models ; USB 1.1 interface is much slower than the newer 2.0 standard ; Average battery life ; Movies only...

Ignore the doomsayers

I know it's easy to get caught up in all the hype of the 8.0 Megapixels and the image quality and all of that, but if you put this into perspective, you'll be pleased with your purchase. This is a relatively cheap point-and-shoot camera that has pretty...

Very good image quality at ISO 50; decent at 100 - 200 ; CCD/Lens Anti-Shake feature really works ; Good battery life ; New firmware really improves speed. Now, it's generally *at least* average ; Excellent macro performance ; Very small/sleek design

Still a little on the slow side when focusing at telephoto or on distant objects in low light. Average to high light performance is perfectly acceptable, however ; USB 1.1 speed (although you can always just use a card reader) ; Autofocus issues in low...

Horrible Image quality

I received a 1GB PNY card for free with this and it stinks. Transfer rates are 2x slower than with the packakaged Panasonic card.

Very compact. Non-protruding lens. Image dock makes charging / picture transfer very easy

The image quality is horrendous on this camera. I also own a Canon Powershot 5.0MP camera that completely blows away the image quality on this camera and it's 3 years old. There images are not crisp and there is a LOT of noise in the images regardless...
