Leica D-Lux 5

The high-end Leica D-Lux 5 point-and-shoot camera comes with a sky-high sticker price, but includes the $150 Adobe Lightroom software package. Sharp images and laudable low-light performance make it an appealing option for well-heeled enthusiasts.

Sharp images. Good video quality. Adobe Lightroom software included. Optional EVF available.

Expensive. Limited zoom range. No GPS.

Performance and Conclusions The D-Lux 5 is a speedy camera, but it's not the fastest kid on the block. It can start up and grab a shot in about 2 seconds, only requires you to wait 1.2 seconds between photos, and records a 0.4-second shutter lag. The...

Leica D-LUX 5 Review

Like the D-LUX 4 before it, the Leica D-LUX 5 is a fruit of the partnership with Japanese consumer electronics giant Panasonic Corp. Leica's consumer digital cameras generally mirror those released by Panasonic, and the Leica D-LUX 5 follows this trend...

Pricing for the Leica D-LUX 5 is set at around US$800, some $300 more than Panasonic's LX5.

Leica D-Lux 5 Titanium review

Limited edition luxury version of the D-Lux 5 compact camera

Metal body exudes class ; Feature-packed for a compact camera ; Film simulation and My Colour modes work in video and still modes ; Cheap for a Leica

Expensive for a gloried snapshot camera ; No handgrip ; Video capture not quite instantaneous ; Movies shot not in Full HD ; Pictures suffer from pixel fringing and blown highlights

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX5 is one of our favourite premium grade compact cameras, which means our hopes for the nigh identical 10.1MP, 3.8x optical zoom Leica D-Lux 5 Titanium are as high as the price tag. Yes, owning a Leica camera with its famous...

Leica D-Lux 5 Titanium review

Leica has taken the already stylish D-Lux 5 and clad it with an anodised layer of titanium. It's a beautiful camera – and the Italian leather case that comes with it ain't too shabby either. You also get a copy of Adobe Lightroom 3 in the box to help...

The reassuring red dot.

The camera is used as an adjunct to my work as a Hand Surgeon. Images taken during operations and in clinic are kept for record purposes and also form the majority of material for teaching other surgeons.

Leica D-Lux 5

Having tired of carrying my DSLR and associated gear, I decided to go to a Point and Shoot (P&S) camera. My last camera was a Nikon D-60. Having used a full sized sensor I was concerned with loosing picture quality by going to a P&S. My most pressing...
