Leica D-Lux (Typ 109)

The Leica D-Lux (Typ 109) offers identical imaging to the Panasonic LX100 premium compact. Its design differs slightly, and it adds a longer warranty and a Lightroom license.

Large image sensor. Wide aperture zoom lens. Sharp EVF. Excellent high ISO performance. Speedy autofocus. 11.3fps burst shooting. Excellent control layout. 4K video capture. 4K photo mode. Hot shoe. Wi-Fi.

Expensive. Bulky. Overactive video autofocus. Sensor resolution limits detail. No built-in flash. Rear LCD picks up scratches easily. Fixed LCD lacks touch input. Lacks microphone input.

If you're curious as to what we think about the D-Lux (Typ 109), consult our full review of the Panasonic DMC-LX100, which is identical from an imaging perspective. It includes a detailed overview of the controls and interface, as well as analysis of...

Leica D-Lux Type 109 Digital Camera Review with 4K UHD Video

As a compact point-and-shoot digital camera with a fairly hefty 12.8 Micro Four Thirds MOS sensor for greater depth of field, the Leica D-Lux Digital Type 109 has a remarkably robust package of features to offer for on-the-go photographers who want...

Excellent low light shooter ; great images and video under assorted conditions ; 4K UHD video looks great ; Compact body ; Great price ; Useful connectivity options

Slippery, poor body design ; Some flare issues with the lens ; Slow to turn on

Despite its few rather minor flaws, we definitely recommend the Leica D-Lux Digital Type 109 4K camera for its rich range of features, the high quality of its images and video and for its 4K UHD shooting abilities. This camera is also one remarkably...

Leica D-Lux (Typ 109) Review

The Leica D-Lux (Typ 109) is a premium compact camera which incorporates a large Micro Four Thirds sensor. The Leica D-Lux (Typ 109) features 4K video recording at 25/24fps including the ability to extract high-resolution 8 megapixel images from the 4K...

With very few differences between the Leica D-Lux (Typ 109) and the virtually identical that we so enthusiastically reviewed back in October 2014, the choice between these two excellent cameras essentially comes down to four things - the overall cost,...

Leica D-LUX (Typ 109) Review

Over the years, we've become accustomed with the manner in which Leica releases its D-LUX and V-LUX camera line. Some weeks or months after Panasonic announces a camera, Leica announces its equivalent version, with a restyled body (but the controls...

Leica D-Lux (Typ 109) review

The superb Panasonic LX100 gets a slight remodelling for Leica-lovers

Large sensor in a compact camera ; Small, high quality lens, Traditional controls, Electronic viewfinder built-in

Screen not touch-sensitive ; 16Mp sensor produces 12Mp images ; Lens quite prone to flare ; Slippery finish on the front

The D-Lux is a delight to use and it produces high quality images, but the Panasonic LX100, which has the same spec, feels safer in your hand thanks to the front grip that's missing from the Leica camera.

Leica D-Lux (Typ 109) Review

Reviewed, the Leica D-Lux (Typ 109) with 4K video, a large Micro Four Thirds sensor and a bright f/1.7 zoom lens.

Excellent f/1.7-f/2.8 Leica lens ; 3 year warranty ; External physical controls ; Excellent build quality ; High resolution electronic viewfinder ; 12fps continuous shooting ; Good noise performance ; Dual axis electronic level ; 4K video recording

No touch screen ; Some noise visible in darker areas ; Lens flare can be an issue ; Lacks front grip

The Leica D-Lux (Typ 109) is a Leica branded version of the Panasonic Lumix LX100, and whilst this means the camera is more expensive than the original, it also offers an extended warranty of 3 years, plus Adobe Photoshop Lightroom. There are...

A Generous Piece with Timeless Quality & Craftsmanship,

This has got to be the finest digital camera ever manufactured for a 3 megapixel. I was eyeballing a 5MP Panasonic Lumix for the longest time because of the equipped Leica lens. I wasn't sure if Leica had produced such similar digital camera until I...

Leica D-LUX (TYP 109)

Still learning the ropes with this camera but it keeps on surprising me with how flexible it is. Leaps and boundaries better than my old d-lux 4. The evf is a revelation.

There's a lot to learn but it's worthwhile!

Leica D-LUX (TYP 109)

Excellent image quality. Viewfinder very good. Feels like a mini Leica. Handling is good, I don't have a problem without the grip that the Panasonic has.

Would prefer an all metal construction for such an expensive camera. I could handle a bit moor mass.
