Nikon Coolpix AW110

The rugged Nikon Coolpix AW110 is a modest update to its predecessor, the AW100. It can go deeper underwater and adds Wi-Fi, but still suffers at high ISO settings.

Sharp OLED display. Built-in Wi-Fi with remote viewfinder support. Integrated GPS. Waterproof to 59 feet. Action button. 5x zoom range.

Not the best performance in low light. Narrow aperture compared with the competition. Image sharpness suffers at edges of frame. So-so high ISO image quality.

Both GPS and Wi-Fi are integrated here. The GPS module adds your location information to photos; it took a couple minutes to lock onto a signal, but updated pretty quickly after that in my tests. You can transfer photos from the AW110 to an iOS or...

Nikon's rugged Coolpix AW110 ready to shoot and share

If you're looking for a rugged camera, but don't want sacrifice on-the-go sharing, the AW110 is a good place to start.

The ; is rated to survive being underwater down to 59 feet and drops of up to 6.6 feet along with being freezeproof and dustproof; has built-in GPS for geotagging among other things and Wi-Fi for easy shooting and sharing with iOS and Android devices....

While its shooting performance is good, the camera's spongy buttons might slow you down a bit and the camera's slow lens requires a lot of light to get the best shots.

If you're looking for a rugged camera, but don't want to sacrifice on-the-go sharing, the Nikon Coolpix AW110 is a good place to start.

Nikon Coolpix AW110 review: Rugged camera ready to shoot and share

The Nikon Coolpix AW110 is a fairly minor update to 2012's AW100 , as you may have figured out by the incremental model number change.

Nikon Coolpix AW110 ( Orange)

There are only a couple differences between the two: increased durability and Wi-Fi. The AW100, was protected down to 33 feet, could survive 5-foot drops, and could continue operating down to 14 degrees Fahrenheit. The AW110 remains freezeproof to the...

Nikon Coolpix AW110

Nikon is a relatively new entrant into the world of underwater/rugged cameras much like its arch rival, Canon. Its original model, the AW100, was announced in Fall of 2011, and then replaced in January 2013 by the Coolpix AW110. The Coolpix AW110 is...

As we mentioned at the start of this review, Nikon is a relative newcomer to the waterproof/rugged camera scene (ironically, given the company's pioneering

Nikon Coolpix AW110

This compact camera is tough and offers a lot for the adventurist - GPS, Wi-Fi, compass, altimeter, and waterproof to 60 feet deep - but if don't need all that, you might feel shortchanged by the lack of other photography features and manual controls....

Low light performance isn't great ; Few photo filters and effects ; Can't use flash in burst mode ; Lack of dial hinders menu navigation ; 5X zoom is modest ; No manual or semi-manual modes

Nikon Coolpix AW110 Review

The Nikon Coolpix AW110 is an all-weather, all-purpose digital compact camera featuring a robust exterior that is water, shock and freeze-proof. It also sports built-in GPS, a back-illuminated 16 megapixel sensor, EXPEED C2 processor and FullHD video...

Nikon Coolpix AW110 - Rugged, Simple, Good

An incremental update to Nikon's maiden foray into the tough camera segment, the AW110 adds Wi-Fi and features increased toughness. But is it worth the upgrade? Join us as we find out.

Good rugged specs (18m waterproof, 2m shockproof, -10°C freezeproof) ; Good image quality ; Quick autofocus ; Sharp OLED display with good color saturation

Too much plastic in its construction ; Display washes out under sunlight ; Lack of manual shooting modes ; Average battery life

Nikon’s second tough camera offering has almost the same pros and cons as its first. While it has good tough specs (dust-resistant, waterproof up to 18m, shockproof up to 2m, freezeproof up to -10°C), due to the plastic used in some parts of its...

A day at the beach with Nikon's finest toughcam

If this is your first toughcam and, for some reason, you cannot find an AW100 for sale anywhere else, then by all means purchase a Coolpix AW110. This is especially relevant if you plan to use your new adventure cam for serious adventuring, like diving...

Nikon Coolpix AW110

The AW110 is an attractive buy for action-adventurers, but doesn't set itself apart markedly from its predecessor.

Quick and accurate GPS tagging ; Wi-Fi connectivity ; Improved waterproof credentials from previous model

Lens tends to fog and smudge easily ; Zoom rocker can be a bit fiddly when wearing gloves ; Fingers can easily obstruct lens ; Images appear a little flat on default settings

The AW110 is a competent tough camera, but with no improvement over image and video quality since its predecessor, there is little reason for existing users to upgrade.
