Nikon Coolpix L4 review

main content The Nikon Coolpix L4 is the least expensive of Nikon's low-end L-series line of digital cameras. The L4 has a small, 4-megapixel sensor, a 3X optical zoom lens, and a handful of scene preset modes but few high-end settings. Though slow and...

Simple to use; decent images; inexpensive.

Sluggish performance; no manual ISO setting; noticeable purple fringing; subpar movie mode.

The Nikon Coolpix L4 produces solid pictures for a budget camera.

Nikon Coolpix L4

When your teen needs a camera to document summer memories or you need to return to the basics, turn to the Nikon Coolpix L4.

The 2-inch LCD screen. Trouble-free setup. Useful in-camera features such as Cropping and D-Lighting. Ability to view photos as thumbnails. Easy-to-use interface with Help button. Fifteen screen modes and five color-shooting options.

No viewfinder. Only 16MB of onboard memory. Can't record video with sound. Shutter lag.

Nikon Coolpix L4 Digital Camera - Review

A little lower down on Nikon's Coolpix line, the new 4.0 megapixel L4 has the look and feel of a more expensive digital camera. The Coolpix L4 goes for $199.95, while the flagship model of the Nikon L series, the L2 sells for $249.95. The 4MP L4, which...

Nikon Coolpix L4 Review

The Nikon Coolpix L4 is a very cheap digital camera and it has the poor performance to match. It is one of the slowest cameras available. It also has a very small ISO range which cannot be controlled by the user.

Good lens sharpness, Good ergonomics, Great battery life, Built-in camera guide

High image noise, No control over ISO, Some corner softens and optical distortion, High chromatic aberrations at wide-angle

Nikon Coolpix L2 Digital Camera Review

One of threesome of new cameras added to Nikon's "Life" line, the Nikon Coolpix L2 is targeted at the photographer who wants a simple to use, compact, high quality digital camera.

Nice LCD for the price ; Very easy to use ; Nice size and shape without sacrificing stability ; Handy Nikon Exclusive Feature System ; Good battery life

Under-exposed indoor images - either increase exposure compensation or use D-Lighting after the shot ; Unimpressive macro range

If you're in the market for a simple to use, affordable camera, the Nikon Coolpix L2 is an excellent option (as are its siblings, the Coolpix L3 and Coolpix L4). The ease of use of this camera is hard to beat and it produces consistently good images....

The Coolpix L4 may be very cheap, but sometimes you really do get more than you pay for.
