Nikon Coolpix S200

Nikon's ultracompact Coolpix S200 offers a simple and straightforward interface and a good set of basic automatic photography options.

Slim and compact design. Simple, intuitive controls. Responsive operation.

Average photo quality. Mediocre lens. Advanced automatic features such as face detection and high-ISO mode are not terribly useful.

Nikon Coolpix S200 review

For point-and-shoot cameras, size can mean almost everything. If a camera is just half an ounce too heavy or half an inch too thick, it'll be too uncomfortable to carry around. Smaller doesn't automatically mean better, however. The 7-megapixel Nikon...

Super-slim design; face-detecting autofocus a nice touch.

Disappointing lens; noisy, soft pictures.

The Nikon Coolpix S200 digital camera looks pretty and will fit almost anywhere, but it just doesn't take very good photos.

ZoneAlarm Internet Security 5.5 review

Intro ZoneAlarm's Internet Security 5.5 is one of the best security suites we've seen. Its interface is far easier to use and understand than the competition's, and its feature set, which includes a personal information vault and instant-messenging...

Extremely easy-to-understand interface; includes antivirus, firewall, and antispam apps; excellent built-in help; doesn't slow Web access; great selection of security tools.

No printed manual; expensive live phone support.

ZoneAlarm Security Suite puts Norton Internet Security and McAfee Internet Security to shame with its easy-to-use features.

Nikon Coolpix S200 Digital Camera - Review - The Imaging Resource!

One of the tiniest Nikon Coolpix cameras to date, the 7.1 megapixel Nikon Coolpix S200 is a small but stylish point-and-shoot camera. Equipped with a telescoping 3x optical zoom lens, the Nikon S200 offers a moderate 35mm-equivalent focal range of...

Ultra-Compact and lightweight ; Stylish ; Easy to use ; Built-in Help system ; D-Lighting ; One-Touch Portrait Mode ; Best Shot Selector ; Generally Good performance ; Accurate Automatic Exposure ; Good White Balance Performance ; Good prefocus shutter...

Electronic rather than optical Vibration Reduction ; Only one image quality setting with low compression ; No display of Shutter Speed ; Low Resolution LCD (153,000 pixels) ; Strong longitudinal chromatic aberration delivers purple fringing across the...

The Nikon S200's core feature set is typical for a snapshot camera: Automatic Exposure, Scene modes, Exposure Compensation and the ability to change White Balance and ISO. But the little silver camera also offers some of Nikon's trademark options:...

Nikon Coolpix S200 Review

Nikon seems to be a step behind Canon when it comes to digital cameras. For the past few years, Nikon has produced some good quality cameras, but it just seems that Canon always out performs Nikon. This remains true with one of Nikon's newest...

The Coolpix line of cameras by Nikon is famous for creating stylish, compact digital cameras with decent image quality. The S200 fits in well with this description thanks to its good-looking body, ease of use, and average image quality. It's obvious...

Nikon Coolpix S200 Digital Camera Full Review

The Nikon Coolpix S200 is currently the smallest, lightest, and thinnest digital camera in Nikon's product catalog.

Ultra-compact ; Quick and responsive ; 2.5" LCD screen ; Excellent image quality

No manual exposure options ; Battery/memory card bay cover seems a bit flimsy

I recently spent a month using Canon's new SD1000 Digital Elph and while the tiny S200 doesn't match the SD1000 in creative flexibility or manual exposure options - it is only half as thick - and it does (in my opinion) compete on equal terms with the...

Nikon Coolpix S200 Review

The main 3 innovations of this Nikon digital camera are: Face-priority AF can detect a human face to provide sharp focus automatically, In-Camera Red-Eye Fix detects, then corrects for the red-eye effect sometimes caused by flash and D-Lighting...

A disappointing compact camera from Nikon, the Coolpix S200 has numerous imaging issues which mean that it's smooth, stylish design isn't enough to make it an attractive option.

Slim, sturdy design

Soft pictures, lots of haloing, colour reproduction below par, slow shot-to-shot time
