Nikon Coolpix S50c

The Nikon Coolpix S50c compact camera has a few tricks up its sleeve, namely Wi-Fi connectivity, optical image stabilization, and a handy rotary dial that works like a trackball, giving you a fast way to navigate menus. However, while we appreciate...

3-inch LCD ; Wireless capability

No optical viewfinder ; Somewhat lethargic operation

Wi-Fi connectivity and optical image stabilization don't make up for sluggish performance and just-okay image quality.

Nikon Coolpix S50c

Its performance and images quality aren't awesome, but the Coolpix S50c is simply the best wireless camera to be had.

Excellent wireless features. Good price for lots of special features.

Mediocre performance. Shutter lag.

Nikon Coolpix S50c review

Some things never change. Some other things, such as Nikon's wireless S-series cameras, change a little bit at a time. Nikon's new Coolpix S50c is a whole lot like the S7c that the company offered last year. It boasts a 7.2-megapixel CCD imaging...

Nice click-wheel; sleek, slim design; supports wireless 802.11b/g photo e-mail via T-Mobile hot spots and private access points; optical image stabilization.

The lack of a built-in browser prevents you from being able to access most free public Wi-Fi access points.

While it takes good pictures and it's nice to be able to access private Wi-Fi access points, the lack of a browser keeps this camera from rising to the next level.

Nikon Coolpix S50c

If they had been more thoughtfully implemented, the Nikon Coolpix S50c's Wi-Fi features might have been enough to compensate for its undistinguished image quality and ease of use. As it is, you're probably better off choosing a more capable shooter.

Wi-Fi system for e-mailing photos straight from the camera ; Useful in-camera editing tools

Soft images ; Limited Wi-Fi connection choices ; Hair-trigger power switch

If they had been more thoughtfully implemented, the Nikon Coolpix S50c’s Wi-Fi features might have been enough to compensate for its undistinguished image quality and ease of use. As it is, you're probably better off choosing a more capable shooter and...

Nikon Coolpix S50c 7.2MP Digital Camera

Sylish cameras are nothing new, but Nikon takes sexiness in cameras to a new level with their S50c. It's curvy, sleek, compact and feature-packed. It includes a huge 3.0" LCD screen and offers 7.2 megapixel images. Is the smaller frame worth the slight...

Good-quality images for the camera size ; 7.2 Megapixel images useful for those who need it ; Compact and sleek design ; Feature-packed ; WiFi Capability

Battery life (130~ images) ; No viewfinder, therefore difficult to use in the sun ; Price/quality ratio

Nature is one of the most popular subjects regardless of what kind of camera you own, and it's a great test for checking the color and lens capabilities. So, I took a trip to a park near my house to see what the camera was capable of. I will let a few...

Nikon Coolpix S50c Review

The Nikon Coolpix S50c is the WiFi equipped version of the Coolpix S50.

Nice 3 inch LCD ; Optical Vibration Reduction (image stabilization) ; Useful (if you actually plan to use it) wireless features ; Slim and stylish

Sluggish operation ; Mediocre battery life ; Zoom rocker switch too small ; LCD is very prone to fingerprints ; Noise increases rapidly as you increase ISO

The slow speed of the Coolpix S50c is probably the biggest downfall of this camera. If you're ok with the camera's speed, you'll be pleased with this camera. While there are no advanced manual exposure modes, the target user of this camera won't use...

Nikon Coolpix S50c review

Is Wi-Fi image transfer more than just a gimmick?

Good LCD ; Strong features ; Well built

Limited manual controls ; No optical viewfinder ; Wi-Fi seems a gimmick

We have no qualms in saying this is a good camera, but it's not because of its gimmicky Wi-Fi transfer feature

Nikon Coolpix S50c digital camera

The latest stylishly curvatious addition to Nikon's WiFi enabled pocket snappers is this, the Coolpix S50c comes with a 7.2-megapixel sensor and a range of simple to use features and functions including face detection AF and a decent 38-114mm (35mm...

Image stabilisation, low ISO image quality, face detection AF

High ISO image noise, no optical viewfinder, stunted Wi-Fi features

There are some issues that tarnish the Coolpix S50c package; AF problems (a common thread on recent Nikon compacts, though not as bad as some recent Coolpix models I’ve reviewed) and the issues over the stunted Wi-Fi functionality are particularly...
