Olympus FE-280

The 8-megapixel Olympus FE-280 costs $200--a pretty low price. It comes with a good user guide for beginners but offers few manual settings. Image quality was merely average.

Can show multi-frame preview of effects ; Slim and lightweight

Smile Shot feature doesn't always work ; Only-average image quality

The lightest camera on the chart and one of the least expensive, the FE-280's images scored about average in our tests.

Super-slim body with face detection

The FE-280 has a small footprint of just 3.6 x 2.4 inches -- barely larger than a credit card -- and it is only 0.65 inches thick. It also weighs less than four ounces without the battery and a bit more with it. You can take it anywhere and it'll never...

Ultra-slim 8-megapixel camera in four cool colors, Bright hi-res 2.5-inch LCD with backlight boost, 640 x 480 movies at a full 30 fps, Advanced face detection mode, Digital image stabilization with gyro assist, 48MB onboard memory, PreSet Shooting Mode...

Can't have sound and optical zoom together in movie mode, No voice recording mode, xD-Picture card harder to fnd and more expensive, We prefer zoom rocker to a zoom ring around the shutter

Olympus FE-280

The ultra-slim, ultra-light FE-280 is an impressive, economical 8-megapixel camera that has a lot going for it. We like the large, bright high resolution LCD, the full-speed VGA movie mode, the image stabilization, the face recognition mode and just...

Olympus FE-280

With few flaws a lot to like, the IXUS 970IS is another great compact camera from Canon. Its most noteworthy feature is the stabilised 5x optical zoom, but there should be something for most users in this package.

5x optical zoom with Optical Image Stabilisation, sharp images, good noise performance up to ISO 800, looks fantastic

Some chromatic aberration issues, power button poorly designed

Olympus FE-280 8Mp compact camera

The 8Mp Olympus FE-280 costs £135 - a pretty low price. It comes with a good user guide for beginners but offers few manual settings. Image quality is merely average.

The Olympus FE-280 is cheap and cute, and it fits easily in your pocket. Anyone with serious photographic ambitions, however, will outgrow it quickly.

The Olympus FE-280 is stylishly designed in a slimline body. Unlike Rebecca Bradley herself.

Stylish, ultra-compact design; Easy to follow menus; Good ISO Results; Accurate colour rendition
